An insert for a ball joint () in a motor vehicle. The insert having a first part-structure () for making at least partial slide-bearing contact with a joint ball (). The first part-structure () can be connected, by over-molding, to a joint socket () and/or to a joint housing (). The insert () can be positioned and/or handled to cover a pole surface, to increase the extraction force, the insert () has an open part-structure () such that a cage-like configuration can be produced for surrounding the joint ball ().

A method for producing a ball joint having an outer housing with an outer housing stud opening, an inner housing arranged inside the outer housing and provided with an inner housing stud opening, and a ball stud having a joint ball is moveably fitted in the inner housing and which extends out through the inner housing stud opening. The method includes inserting and positioning the stud with its joint ball in the outer housing such that, between the outer housing and the stud, a free space surrounding the joint ball and/or stud remains and the stud extends out through the outer housing stud opening. After which the free space is filled with a plastic material which enclosed the joint ball and then cures to form the inner housing. A gap is formed between the outer and inner housings during curing and closed after curing by compressing the outer housing.

Method for producing a ball joint

A sleeve joint (), in particular for a vehicle, having an outer sleeve () which receives and secures a ball socket (), in an axial direction. The ball socket () is composed of a plastics material for engagement with an inner ball joint body (). The ball socket () extends radially as far as an inner wall () of the outer sleeve, such that the ball socket () is supported directly on the outer sleeve ().

A method for producing a joining connection between a joint housing and at least one connection component including: providing a blank for the fabrication of the joint housing, and providing a connection component with a joint receptacle inserting the blank into the joint receptacle of the connection component and producing the joint housing through forming by cold extrusion of the inserted blank. An undercut positive-engagement joining connection is generated between the joint housing and the connection component during the cold extrusion process through transverse extrusion and/or upsetting. A chassis component has a structural component part with at least one joint receptacle formed as orifice and a joint housing for a joint device, which joint housing is inserted into this joint receptacle and fastened to the structural component part.

A link rod for a motor vehicle, with a connecting rod () designed with an open profile that extends in an axial direction (x), which comprises a back () and two opposed sidepieces () which are connected to one another by the back (), extending away from the back so as to enclose an angle (a) of less than 180&#xb0; between them. Two joints () are connected to one another by the connecting rod (), each joint comprises a joint housing () and an inner joint component () that is fitted and able to move in the housing and extends outwardly therefrom. The connecting rod () is embedded, at its respective axial ends, in one of the joint housings (), and the sidepieces () enclose an angle (&#x3b1;) of at least 90&#xb0; between them.

A process for manufacturing a ball and socket joint and a joint manufactured according to that process are provided for a simple manufacture of a completely assembled ball and socket joint with a low torque and overturning moment. The joint housing is manufactured in an injection or casting process, in which the joint ball with the bearing shell placed on it is surrounded by a metallic material or a plastic. The joint shell is provided with a bulge, which behaves elastically with respect to the pressure acting during the injection or casting process and arches slightly outwardly after the conclusion of the injection or casting process. It is achieved as a result that the joint shell does not lie over its entire area on the joint ball after the injection or casting process.

Process for manufacturing a ball and socket joint and ball and socket joint manufactured according to the process

A method of producing a spherical joint () with a spherical sleeve () having a spherical bearing area () and provided with a through-going assembly opening that extends, in an axial direction (), which by virtue of the bearing area () is mounted and able to move by sliding in a spherical shell (). The spherical sleeve () is arranged in an outer sleeve () in such a manner that the spherical sleeve () extends outwardly, in an axial direction (), from both sides of the outer sleeve (). A material, which hardens, is injected into an intermediate space (), located between the spherical shell () and the outer sleeve (), such that when the material hardens, the assembly of the spherical sleeve () and the spherical shell () is joined to the outer sleeve ().

Method for producing a spherical sleeve joint

A connecting arrangement for a motor vehicle wheel suspension, with a spring plate for receiving a vehicle spring, a joint and a connecting strut, which is articulated to the spring plate by way of the joint. The joint includes a fastening section that extends in an axial direction and engages in a fastening hole formed in the spring plate. The fastening section passes through the fastening hole and is shaped outside the hole, on a side of the spring plate facing away from the joint, to form a contact surface that is supported axially against the spring plate.

Connection arrangement for a motor vehicle wheel suspension

A bearing shell made of plastic material is provided for a ball and socket joint for mounting a ball and socket joint pivot mounted rotatably and pivotably in the bearing shell with at least two shell parts () forming a bearing surface with an inner, hollow spherical shape is presented, wherein the shell parts form in their entirety the shape of a bearing ring () with an opening () each arranged on the front sides of the bearing ring, which front sides are located opposite each other, at least one web () connecting the shell parts () being arranged crosswise above one of the opening cross sections.

A ball sleeve joint is provided, especially for chassis assembly units and steering assembly units of motor vehicles. The ball sleeve joint includes a joint housing with two housing halves and a ball sleeve provided with a rounded bearing surface. The bearing surface is accommodated in a joint housing, which is manufactured from an elastic plastic and is fixed in a recess of the joint housing, as well as a process for manufacturing such a ball sleeve joint. The two housing halves () are pressed together with defined pressing forces during the mounting of the ball sleeve joint () in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ball sleeve joint (). The two housing parts are held in the installed position predetermined by the pressing forces by means of at least one connection () in substance between the housing parts ().

A connecting piece for the articulated connection of components disposed in the chassis of a vehicle. The connecting piece comprises a base body () made out of sheet metal in which at least one through bore () is provided, a plastic part () is rigidly connected to the base body (), and at least one articulated joint (), comprising a housing (), rigidly connected to the base body (). The housing () is inserted into the through bore (), in an axial direction (), and has a housing section () with a radial shoulder () disposed outside the hole () and embedded in the plastic part (), by which the housing section (), rigidly connected to the housing (), is axially supported on the base body ().

Connector piece for the articulated connection of components located in the suspension of a vehicle

A ball and socket joint () is provided, for example, for a chassis bearing, with a ball (), a pivot () originating from the ball (), a housing () accommodating the ball, and a sealing bellows (), which extends between the housing () and the pivot () and has a housing-side opening () and a pivot-side opening (). The sealing bellows () has a circumferential sealing lip () for sealing at the pivot-side opening (). The ball and socket joint () has a first guide ring (), which guides the sealing bellows (). The first guide ring () is arranged at the pivot (). An especially favorable functional separation is achieved as a result between the guiding function and the sealing function.

A process and a device are provided for mounting ball and socket joints with at least one connecting piece. A first ball and socket joint housing part () is fed to a mounting device, a ball pivot (), surrounded by a bearing shell (), is inserted into the first ball and socket joint housing (). A hinged support or the like for the articulated connection of chassis parts in motor vehicles, in which a section connecting bearing eyes at the ends to one another is designed as a hollow section and is assembled from parts which are manufactured as shell-shaped open parts and are connected to one another after manufacture to form a closed hollow section.

A ball-and-socket joint for chassis parts in motor vehicles, in which a joint ball provided on a pivot pin is mounted within a housing in a sliding shell made of plastic, wherein the outer jacket of the sliding shell is tightly enclosed by the inner jacket of the housing. To compensate manufacturing tolerances, a material, which is highly elastic compared with the material of the sliding shell, is arranged in a recess on the outer jacket of the sliding shell (4) at least at points of increased load by the joint ball.
