A robotic vacuum cleaner for autonomously cleaning surfaces. The robotic vacuum cleaner comprises an appliance housing and a side arm. The side arm is movably mounted on the appliance housing. A brush element is disposed on the side arm. The side arm projects, in a first position, in front of the appliance housing in part and, in a second position, is received by the appliance housing. The side arm comprising a first arm element having a first end and a second end. The first arm element is movably mounted in the appliance housing at the first end. The side arm comprises a second arm element having a first end and a second end. The second arm element is movably mounted in the appliance housing at the first end and is movably connected to the second end of the first arm element at the second end.

Robotic vacuum cleaner

A floor-type vacuum cleaner includes a housing and rollers attached to the housing that are configured to provide movement of the housing. Each roller is disposed on a roller axle so as to be rotatable. At least one of the rollers includes a rigid hub and an air-filled, rubber, resilient, damping tire. Alternatively, at least one of the rollers has a damping property and includes alternating concentric layers of rigid and flexible components, with air being disposed between at least one of the rigid components and at least one of the flexible components.

A vacuum cleaner for use with a dust bag provided with a flange adapted to be slidably received in a bracket pivotally mounted in a dust collection chamber between a first position in engagement with a suction opening of the dust collection chamber and a second position removed from the first position. The dust collection chamber is provided with a lid selectively pivotable between open and closed positions. Movement of the lid to its closed position is contingent upon the flange of a dust bag having been inserted into the bracket to release the bracket from a blocking mechanism effective in the second position of the bracket and constituted by an upper edge of the bracket and a groove in the lid.
