A wireless network environment includes a communication management resource that manages allocation of wireless channels in a network environment. The communication management resource assigns a first wireless channel for use by first wireless communication equipment in a network environment. In response to receiving a request to swap the first wireless channel for a different wireless channel, the communication management resource allocates a second wireless channel as a swap for the first wireless channel. In furtherance of the swap, the communication management resource then notifies the first wireless communication equipment to use the second wireless channel as a substitute to the first wireless channel.

The presentation invention relates to methods and apparatus for coordinating the buffering and transmission of data between a Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS) and a wireless base station. An exemplary method in accordance with one embodiment includes the steps of: receiving a buffer management mode message at a CMTS from a wireless base station; switching, by the CMTS, from operating in a first mode of operation to operating in a second mode of operation with respect to buffering and communicating downlink data to the wireless base station; and while operating in the second mode of operation: (i) creating a plurality of CMTS downlink data buffers, each of the plurality of CMTS downlink data buffers corresponding to a different user equipment device to which the wireless base station is actively providing services; and (ii) storing a received downlink data packet in one of the plurality of CMTS downlink data buffers.

A first wireless base station provides a communication device access to a remote network over a wireless communication link. The wireless communication link provides poor connectivity between the mobile communication device and the first wireless base station. The first wireless base station receives a notification indicating that the communication device is within wireless range of at least a second wireless base station. To initiate a handoff of the communication device from the first wireless base station to the second wireless base station, the first wireless base station transmits a wireless signal encoded to indicate that the wireless signal was transmitted from the second wireless base station. Communication of the wireless signal causes the communication device to perceive that it receives a strong signal from the second wireless base station, prompting the communication device to perform a handoff from the first wireless base station to the second wireless base station.

In one embodiment, the system utilizes 'quasi-licensed' CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) wireless spectrum in conjunction with a wireless communication network (e.g., 3GPP 4G-LTE or 5G-NR-based). A “traffic profile” message is used to prioritize the data traffic. In one variant, the traffic profile message is generated by a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) such as a CBRS FWA, and includes data related to CPE identification, default bearer identification, number of client devices served by the CPE (e.g., via a wireless router connected to the CPE), traffic type and/or priority level associated with each client device and/or data traffic type, etc. In another variant, the base station provides data services to a plurality of fixed wireless access (FWA) apparatus installed at user or subscriber premises of a network based on prioritization according to the present disclosure.

The present invention relates to methods and apparatus for managing uplink resource grants in wireless networks. An exemplary method embodiment includes a mobile terminal: receiving from a base station a first uplink resource grant schedule including a first uplink resource grant and a second uplink resource grant, the first uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal an exclusive right to use a first set of resource blocks on a recurring basis and the second uplink resource grant giving the mobile terminal a non-exclusive right to use a second set of resource blocks on a recurring basis; and using, by the mobile terminal, the second set of resource blocks to transmit data to the base station during at least a first time interval of the first period of time, said first period of time including multiple time intervals during which the mobile terminal has been granted the right to transmit data.

Apparatus and methods for providing enhanced coverage in a quasi-licensed wireless system using a reduced-cost base station apparatus. In one embodiment, the base station is configured to utilize quasi-licensed 3.55-3.70 GHz CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) GAA and PAL spectrum, and employs a power amplifier sharing arrangement in its transmitter chain(s), along with multi-sector antenna elements. A scheduling algorithm operative on the base station generates sector-specific weights which are used to allocate the shared power amplifier(s) between the different sectors. The multiple repeater wireless stations receive first wireless signals from a wireless base station. The multiple repeater wireless stations transmit second wireless signals from the multiple repeater wireless stations to a mobile communication device. The second wireless signals are reproductions of the first wireless signals. The communication management hardware controls phase shifts of the second wireless signals in time such that the second wireless signals received by the mobile communication device are phase aligned.
