Copper adsorbents which are resistant to the reduction by the components of the synthesis gas at normal operation conditions. The adsorbents are produced by admixing small amounts of an inorganic halide, such as NaCl, to the basic copper carbonate precursor followed by calcination at a temperature sufficient to decompose the carbonate. The introduction of the halide can be also achieved during the forming stage of adsorbent preparation. These reduction resistant copper oxides can be in the form of composites with alumina and are especially useful for purification of synthesis gas and the removal of mercury, arsine, phosphine, as well as hydrogen sulfide.

Copper adsorbent for gas purification

The present subject matter relates generally to a method for the removal of oxygen from hydrogen using a manganese, iron, nickel or cobalt based adsorbent. More specifically, the present subject matter relates to the methods for the removal of oxygen from hydrogen using a manganese based adsorbent without the generation of water or other oxides.

This present disclosure relates to processes for removing contaminants from hydrocarbon streams, e.g. removing chlorides, CO, COS, HS, AsH, methanol, mercaptans and other S- or O-containing organic compounds from olefins, paraffins, aromatics, naphthenes and other hydrocarbon streams. The process involves contacting the stream with an adsorbent which comprises a zeolite, an alumina component and a metal component e.g. sodium, in an amount at least 30% of the zeolite's ion exchange capacity.

Process for purifying hydrocarbon streams using low reactivity adsorbents

A process for the providing a regenerant gas stream for a regenerable adsorbent used to remove water and hydrogen sulfide from a reactor effluent in a catalytic dehydrogenation process is described. The reactor effluent is compressed in a compressor to provide a compressed effluent. The compressed effluent may be treated to remove chlorides, and then passed to a dryer zone having a regenerable adsorbent. A regenerant gas stream is used to desorb the water and hydrogen sulfide and the spent regenerant stream may be passed to a cleaning zone having a sorbent configured to remove hydrogen sulfide from the spent regenerant stream. The cleaned regenerant gas stream may be recycled to the dryer zone to desorb and/or regenerate the regenerable adsorbent.

Processes for removing contaminants from a dehydrogenation effluent

A process is presented for the removal of acetaldehyde from mixture of oxygenates. Acetaldehyde is selectively removed in the presence of other oxygenates like ketones, alcohols and nitriles using an amorphous sodium doped alumina derived from thermally decomposed Dawsonite. The process successfully removes acetaldehyde which can adversely impact catalyst operation.

A process for removal of trace chloride contaminants from a reactor effluent in a catalytic dehydrogenation process is described. The reactor effluent is compressed in a compressor to provide a compressed effluent. The compressed effluent is introduced from the compressor into a chloride treater. In the chloride treater, trace chloride contaminants in the compressed effluent are adsorbed to provide a treated effluent. The treated effluent is cooled in a cooler.

Metal exchanged and impregnated zeolite materials, methods for making metal exchanged and impregnated zeolite materials, and systems for reducing an amount of a contaminant species in a feed stream using a metal exchanged and impregnated zeolite material are provided. An exemplary metal exchanged and impregnated zeolite material comprises a metal exchanged zeolite material with the formula ((MO).(M'O)). AlO.bSiO; and a metal oxide with the formula MO impregnated in the metal exchanged zeolite material such that the metal oxide is contacting an interior surface of the pore structure of the metal exchange zeolite material. In this example, M is a cation of an alkali or alkaline earth metal, n is a valence state of metal cation M, M&#x2032; is a cation of a metal other than an alkali or alkaline earth metal, n&#x2032; is a valence state of metal cation M&#x2032;, 0 &#x2266;a&#x3c;1, 0&#x3c;a&#x2032;&#x2266;1, a+a&#x2032;=1, and b is about 2 to about 500.

Metal impregnated zeolite adsorbents, methods of making, and systems for using the same

A method of removing mercury and/or sulfur from a fluid stream comprising contacting the fluid stream with a sorbent comprising a core and a porous shell formed to include a plurality of pores extending therethrough and communicating with the core. The core comprises a copper compound selected from the group consisting of a basic copper oxysalt, a copper oxide, and a copper sulfide.

This sulfur guard bed, which contains supported CuO material having an increased resistance to reduction, shows such improvement. Thus, the danger of run-away reduction followed by a massive release of water causing process upsets in a catalytic reforming process is practically eliminated. The fact that the guard bed material preserves the active metal phase&#x2014;copper in an active (oxide) form is an important advantage leading to very low sulfur content in the product stream. The sulfur capacity per unit weight of sorbent is also significantly increased, making this sorbent a superior cost effective sulfur guard product.

The fact that the guard bed material preserves the active metal phase-copper in an active (oxide) form is an important advantage leading to very low sulfur content in the product stream. The sulfur capacity per unit weight of sorbent is also significantly increased, making this sorbent a superior cost effective sulfur guard product. The guard bed is effective in treating mixed phase feed streams.
