A process for producing carbo-chain homopolymers, block- and random copolymers of conjugated dienes and vinylaromatic monomers comprising polymerization of dienes, vinyl- or di-vinylaromatic monomers or copolymerization thereof in a medium of a hydrocarbon solvent at a temperature ranging from -30.degree. to +150.degree. C. in the presence of an organolithium catalyst of the formula R(Li).sub.x, wherein R is a hydrocarbon radical or a diene polymer, x is an integer of from 1 to 4, and a modifying additive which is a compound comprising a product of interaction between a phenolamine resin and an alkali metal and having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein n is an integer of from 1 to 10;

Novel phenolamine resins which are condensation products of hexamethylene tetramine with a phenol component such as an alkylphenol with 5 to 12 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, styrene-alkylated phenol, cumylphenol, diphenylolpropane, hydroxybenzoic acid. The condensation reaction is conducted at a temperature ranging from 90.degree. to 180.degree. C. The products thus prepared are efficient stabilizing agents for rubbers and vulcanizates.

Method of preparing phenolamine resins

A method of stabilization of rubbers and vulcanizates thereof which involves incorporation, into a rubber, its solution or latex, of antioxidants, viz. phenolamine resins prepared by condensation of hexamethylene tetramine with alkyl-, alkenynyl-, dialkyl-, arylalkyl-, halo-substituted phenol, dihydroxydiphenylalkanes, hydroxybenzoic acids. Said resins may be used in a combination with conventional antioxidants such as secondary amines, diamines, 2,6-dialkylderivatives of phenol, phosphorus- and sulphur-containing compounds. Said phenolamine resins are considerably superior over conventional antioxidants in their efficiency against thermal ageing during thermomechanical processing.
