An apparatus comprising a heater configured to heat smokable material to volatilize at least one component of the smokable material, wherein the heater comprises a plurality of heating projections arranged sequentially along a longitudinal axis of the heater; and the projections are configured to heat smokable material located between the projections. An elongate smokable material cartridge comprising a plurality of smokable material sections is also described.

Heating smokeable material

A system, method, and device for preserving blood and its components is described. The system and method generally include a device having a body defining a chamber, the chamber being configured to receive at least one bag containing blood or its components, the at least one bag being permeable to gas, for example, xenon. A cover is hermetically sealable to the body. An inlet is in fluid communication with the chamber. A pressure indicator is configured to indicate pressure in the chamber, the pressure indicator including a conduit containing a liquid. A portion of the conduit is transparent such that the liquid is visible. A source of pressurized gas, such as xenon, is provided to provide the pressurized gas to the chamber.

An ice making and harvesting apparatus includes a mold, and bottom and top plates. The mold includes a plurality of cells. Each cell includes side walls and defines bottom and top openings. The bottom plate is configured to move relative to a bottom surface of the mold. An upper surface of the bottom plate includes a first sealing component. A bottom side of the mold includes a second sealing component. The second sealing component is configured to form a seal with the first sealing component of the bottom plate. The bottom plate includes an inlet and a plurality of channels. Each channel is configured to supply water from the bottom plate to a corresponding cell of the mold. The top plate includes a plurality of pushing rods, each rod configured to move relative to the top opening of a corresponding cell.

Ice making and harvesting

A reusable aseptic connector is provided. The connector may be used to provide fluid communication between a bag-in-box (BIB) container and a beverage dispenser. The connector may provide aseptic properties of the connection by insulation of an inner volume of a first part and an inner volume of a second part, with the beverage component kept from contacting any of the part of the connector structure that are exposed to the environment and have a risk of induced contamination. The connector may comprise a resilient membrane and a sliding tube wherein the sliding tube is configured to have a portion move toward and through the resilient membrane to establish fluid communication between the first part and the second part, and for the portion to move away from the resilient membrane to destablish fluid communication between the first part and the second part when desired.

Aseptic connector for a free-flowing food

This application discloses a method for separating banana clusters into individual fruits. In this method, the banana cluster is hung on a carrier (such as a cable) in such a way that the hanging point is the place where the banana fruit stalks converge (at the crown). The cluster and/or the cutter are moved toward each other and the cutter is positioned such that the cutter cuts the fruit stalks at a point lower than the cluster hanging point.

A metal-cutting machine comprising a base on which are mounted a table for clamping the workpiece being machined, and longitudinal ways for the carriage, including a longitudinal guide-bar which runs through a longitudinal open-end passage in the carriage and held in position by its ends to the machine base. The carriage has its own drive, and provision is made therein for a transverse open-end passage whose axis lies in a plane parallel with that of the axis of the aforesaid longitudinal passage, the transverse passage serving as the transverse ways for the cross guide-bar fitted therein, one of the ends of the guide-bar carrying the power head with the cutting tool, while its other end is kinematically associated with the other individual drive. The self-contained drives of the carriage and cross guide-bar are controlled from a program-copying device.

A device for automatically controlling an electroerosion cutting machine in which a unit for selecting a direction of rotation of drive motors in the course of erosion working, includes a coincidence circuit and a reversible ring shift register whose outputs are connected to inputs of the coincidence circuit, whereas the latter's outputs are electrically coupled to coordinate drive motors which move an electroerosion tool relative to the workpiece, and an optical head relative to a coordinate follow table. The optical head is electrically connected to the register and coincidence circuit via a first amplifier having four divided outputs, two of which are connected to respective inputs of the ring shift register, whereas the remaining two are connected to the inputs of the coincidence circuit.
