Some embodiments provide methods, process, systems and apparatus for use in testing multi-axis Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) devices. In some embodiments, methods of testing are provided, comprising: selecting, according to a test specification and a test program, at least a first MEMS device on a substrate comprising a plurality of MEMS formed relative to the substrate and applying one or more electrical probes to the first MEMS device; providing power to the first MEMS device through the one or more electrical probes; measuring output signals of the first MEMS device; applying a force to the first MEMS device using a force actuator; measuring a set of output signals of the first MEMS device based on the applied force; and processing test data and generating output test results according to the test specification and test program.

Method of testing of MEMS devices on a wafer level

The present invention provides method and system for recording hand-painted, hand-drawn and handwritten information defined by a hand and/or fingers movement. The system corresponding to the invented method comprises: a computing device with a display, an input device comprising: an end-point coupled to a force sensor, additional motion sensors, IC circuit for digitizing the information from sensors and processing the data related to the force and motion vectors components; hardware and software for providing a digital description of how the device has been pressed to the surface and how the device has been moved. Besides above mentioned applications the method and system can also be used for precise cursor navigation on the display, computer gaming and as a universal remote control for electronic equipment and appliances or as a security device with multi-level authentication. With an addition of several components the input device can be used as a smart cell-phone.

System and method for digital recording of handpainted, handdrawn and handwritten information

The present invention provides method and system for 3D hand-painting and 3D hand-drawing. The system corresponding to the invented method comprises: an electronic monitor and computer, means for 3D digital vision, multi-axis input control device allowing digital painting or drawing on the canvas, additional input control device for virtual changing the position of the canvas between the painter and the monitor, means for 3D image presentation. The system and method provide painting or drawing on the electronic canvas for each of the virtual positions of the canvas by changing this position with the input control device and verifying it with the means for 3D digital vision. The system provides complete digital 2D images of the painting for the right and the left eyes, which are used for presentation of 3D painting by available means for 3D vision.

Some embodiments provide force input control devices for sensing vector forces comprising: a sensor die comprising: a rigid island, an elastic element coupled to the rigid island, die frame coupled to a periphery of the elastic element, one or more stress sensitive components on the elastic element, and signal processing IC, where the sensor die is sensitive to a magnitude and a direction of a force applied to the rigid island within the sensor die, where the sensor die is coupled electrically and mechanically to a substrate, a spring element coupling an external button, where the force is applied, to the rigid island element, wherein the spring element has a flat geometry and located in a plane parallel to a plane of the substrate, where the spring element is configured to translate a deflection of the button into an allowable force applied to the rigid island.

Three-dimensional input control device

Methods of fabricating 3-dimensional force input control devices are disclosed. These roughly comprise: providing a first substrate, fabricating stress-sensitive IC components and signal processing IC on a side one of the first substrate, fabricating one or more closed trenches on a side two of the first substrate within each die area, creating elastic element, frame area and rigid island, providing a second substrate, patterning a side two of the second substrate to define areas for deep etching, creating a layer of bonding material in local areas on at least one of the surfaces of the side one of the second substrate and the side two of the first substrate, aligning and bonding the side two of the first substrate with the side one of the second substrate, etching the second substrate from the side two through to the first substrate, dicing the two bonded substrates into multiple separate dice.

Force input control device and method of fabrication

The present invention provides three-dimensional force input control devices for use in sensing vector forces and converting them into electronic signals for processing, and methods of fabricating three-dimensional force input control devices for sensing vector forces and converting them into electronic signals for processing. In some embodiments, methods of fabricating provide a semiconductor substrate having a side one and a side two; fabricate stress-sensitive IC components and signal processing IC on side one of the substrate; fabricate closed trenches on side two of the substrate, the trenches forming boundaries defining elastic elements, frame areas, and rigid islands, and remove additional substrate material from side two of the substrate in the frame area leaving the dimension of the rigid island protruding outward from side two.

A method and device for one or more dimensional input control of different functions in electronic devices is provided. Certain versions of the Present Invention provide a one or more dimensional input force interface control device for cell phones, portable gamers, digital cameras, and other applications. Certain alternate versions of the Present Invention exhibit one or more of the qualities of smallness, low-cost, high reliability, and/or high stability. Three-dimensional analog input control device

A force input control device suitable for high-volume applications such as cell phones, portable gaming devices and other handheld electronic devices along with other applications like medical equipment, robotics, security systems and wireless sensor networks is disclosed. The device can be one-axis or two-axis or three-axis sensitive broadening the range of applications. The device comprises a force sensor die formed within semiconductor substrate and containing a force sensor providing electrical output signal in response to applied external force, and electrical connection elements for mounting and/or wire bonding. Signal conditioning and processing integrated circuit can be integrated within some devices. A package enclosing at least a portion of the force sensor die and comprising a force-transferring element cooperated with the sensor die for transferring an external force to the force sensor die.

Semiconductor input control device

Method of fabricating 3-dimensional force input control device are disclosed. These roughly follow a process of providing a first substrate having side one and side two, fabricating stress-sensitive IC components and signal processing IC on the side one of the first substrate, fabricating closed trenches on the side two of the first substrate within each die area, said closed trenches create elastic element, frame area and at least one rigid island separated from the frame areas, providing a second substrate having side one and side two, patterning side two of the second substrate to define areas for deep etching, creating a layer of bonding material in the local areas on at least one of the surfaces of the side one of the second substrate and the side two of the first substrate, aligning and bonding the side two of the first substrate with the side one of the second substrate, etching the second substrate from the side two through to the first substrate, dicing two bonded substrates onto multiple separate dice, resulting in processed, aligned, bonded and diced batch fabricated low cost 3D force input control devices.

The present invention provides three-dimensional force input control devices for use in sensing vector forces and converting them into electronic signals for processing in a electronic signal processing system with all components within die fabricated from the single semiconductor substrate. In some embodiments, the die has an elastic element, a frame formed around said elastic element, at least three mechanical stress sensitive IC components located in the elastic element, at rigid island element which transfers an external vector force to the elastic element and through the IC components provides electrical output signal, this rigid island has a height bigger than the thickness of the frame element, an external force-transferring element coupling the rigid island element with an external force and electronic circuit for processing output signals from the mechanical stress sensitive IC components.
