A multi-carrier transmitter apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes an outer encoder, a shell mapper and an inner encoder. The outer encoder is configured to receive a signal, perform error correction using an outer code on the received signal and generate an outer encoder signal. The shell mapper is configured to perform constellation shaping on a subset of bits from the outer encoder signal and generate one or more constellation shaping bits. The inner encoder is configured to perform inner error correction/encoding using an inner code on a second subset of bits from the outer encoder signal and generate an inner correction signal.

An apparatus for a wired communication link is provided. The apparatus includes transmit circuitry for transmitting downstream data over the wired communication link during a frame for full duplex data transmission. The frame comprises a first subframe and a second subframe for downstream data transmission. The first subframe coincides in time with a third subframe of the frame for upstream data transmission, wherein the second subframe coincides in time with a fourth subframe of the frame for upstream data transmission. The first subframe and the fourth subframe are priority subframes. The second subframe and the third subframe are non-priority subframes. Techniques discussed herein can facilitate handshake procedures for Point-to-Multipoint (P2MP) communication in connection with various DSL (Direct Subscriber Line) technologies. Various embodiments can employ different methods of separation of signaling to arrange P2MP handshake procedures based on existing Point-to-Point (P2P) handshake procedures. Example embodiments can employ one of separation in frequency, separation in time, or separation in transmission power level.

Apparatus, method and non-transitory, computer readable storage media for transmitting and receiving discontinuous time-frequency operation signals in a communication network

A device for transmitting and receiving on a coaxial cable or twisted pair cable is disclosed. The device includes a plurality of transceivers for transmitting signals to, and receiving signals from, at least one customer premise equipment (CPE) via a plurality of channels. The plurality of channels may be formed by using a plurality of twisted pairs cable or by using a plurality of frequency bands on a coaxial cable or a twisted pair. The device may also include at least one canceller for cancelling echo and/or crosstalk on at least one channel, and a processor configured to allocate to a single CPE multiple frequency bands on a single cable or multiple lines among a bundle of twisted pairs. The device may work for both coaxial cables and twisted pair cables and support for unified use of channel bonding in a frequency domain and a spacial domain.
