A method and device for authenticating wireless communication links between devices. The method may comprise sending a first frame from first device to a second device. The first frame may comprise a header and a payload containing data packets for implementing a first Extensible Authentication Protocol. A first secure link may be established between the first network interface card of the first device and the first network interface card of the second device, then an action management frame may be sent across the first link. The action management frame may comprise the header, a payload comprising a vendor-specific information element containing identifying information about the first device, and an action that instructs the second device to implement a second Extensible Authentication Protocol through a second network interface card of the second device. A second secure link may be established between the second network interface cards of each device.

Methods of using a peripheral component interconnect express (PCIe) device in a virtual environment are disclosed. Two operating systems operate on a primary device. One operating system acts as a guest in a virtual environment within the primary device. A peripheral device is coupled to the primary device through a wireless connection. In an exemplary embodiment, the wireless connection is a PCIe bridge. The host operating system interfaces directly with the memory elements and hardware of the primary device. The guest operating system interoperates with the memory elements and hardware of the peripheral device. The use of the PCIe wireless link allows the guest operating system to interface with the elements of the peripheral device with relatively little latency.

In some aspects, a wireless device is configured to execute a plurality of applications and to communicate with a communication network. A method and apparatus of memory access control for bus masters are described. In one embodiment, the method includes the receipt of a direct memory access (DMA) request from a device. Once the DMA request is received, DMA access rights of the device are determined according to an access control list (ACL). Once determined, the device is granted DMA access according to the determined memory access rights of the device. In other words, if a DMA request coincides with DMA access rights assigned to the device, the DMA request is executed. Otherwise, the operating system may be notified of an unauthorized DMA request.
