An ink composition can include carbon black pigment, from 50 wt % to 80 wt % water, from 15 wt % to 35 wt % organic solvent, from 0.25 wt % to 9 wt % free latex particles having an average particles size from 50 nm to 500 nm, from 0.1 wt % to 1 wt % C10 to C20 fatty acid, and lithium.

Ink compositions

The present disclosure is drawn to an inkjet printing system including an ink composition and a microfluidic ejection assembly. The ink composition can include carbon black pigment, from 50 wt % to 80 wt % water, from 10 wt % to 40 wt % of an organic solvent system, and from 0.5 wt % to 6 wt % polyurethane. The microfluidic ejection assembly can include a drop generator for externally ejecting the ink composition, and a fluid pump for internally inducing microfluidic recirculation flow of the ink composition into the drop generator.

Inkjet printing systems

An ink composition includes water, a co-solvent, a colorant, and a modified polymer or copolymer additive. The modified polymer or copolymer additive is selected from the group consisting of i) a hydrolyzed poly(isobutylene-alt-maleic anhydride), ii) a hydrolyzed poly(maleic anhydride-alt-1-octadecene), and iii) a modified polymer or copolymer. The modified polymer or copolymer includes a repeating unit of a backbone chain, and a long chain pendant group attached to a carbon atom of the repeating unit. In the backbone chain, the long chain pendant group of the repeating unit is separated by fewer than 8 spacer carbon atoms from another long chain pendant group of an adjacent repeating unit.

Ink composition including a modified polymer or copolymer additive

An ink composition includes a colorant, a co-solvent, a surfactant system, and water. The surfactant system consists of an acid, lithium, and a non-ionic surfactant. The acid is selected from the group consisting of oleic acid, linoleic acid, undecanoic acid, dodecanoic acid, tridecanoic acid, and combinations thereof. The non-ionic surfactant includes a hydrophilic head group to interact with the lithium and a hydrophobic tail to not sterically hinder formation of an anti-evaporative layer to be formed by the surfactant system. The non-ionic surfactant also excludes any ethyleneoxy groups.

Ink composition

An ink composition includes colorant, co-solvent system, acid (e.g., oleic, linoleic, undecanoic, dodecanoic, and/or tridecanoic acids), lithium, polymer as binder, and water. The co-solvent system is selected from i) from &#x2dc;9 to &#x2dc;25 wt % of sulfolane with no other co-solvent, ii) hydroxylated co-solvent, from &#x2dc;4 to &#x2dc;16 wt % of sulfolane, and at least 8 wt % of another non-hy-droxylated co-solvent; iii) hydroxylated co-solvent, from &#x2dc;7 to &#x2dc;16 wt % of sulfolane, and at least 3 wt % of the other non-hydroxylated co-solvent; and iv) a hydroxylated co-solvent and from &#x2dc;9 wt % to &#x2dc;16 wt % of sulfolane. When i) or ii) or iv) is used, at least 0.15 wt % acid and at least 200 ppm lithium are included; or when iii) is used, at least 0.25 wt % acid and at least 100 ppm lithium are included; or when iii) is used, at least 0.15 wt % acid and at least 150 ppm lithium are included.

The present disclosure provides non-Newtonian inkjet inks and related methods. In one example, a non-Newtonian inkjet ink can comprise a low molecular weight organic gelator in an amount ranging from 0.1% to 10% by weight based on the total weight of the non-Newtonian inkjet ink; a salt in an amount of 0.05% to 20% by weight based on the total weight of the non-Newtonian inkjet ink; and an organic solvent. Additionally, the low molecular weight organic gelator and the salt can form a structured network and the inkjet ink can have a viscosity ranging from 100 cps to 10,000 cps at a temperature of 25&#xb0; C. and a viscosity ranging from 1 cps to 10 cps at a temperature of 50&#xb0; C.

Non-Newtonian inkjet inks

An ink composition includes colorant, hydroxylated and non-hydroxylated co-solvents, and water. A weight percent ratio of hydroxylated to non-hydroxylated co-solvents ranges from 46:54 to about 62:38. The composition also includes an acid and a polyurethane copolymer binder. The acid is selected from the group consisting of oleic acid, linoleic acid, undecanoic acid, dodecanoic acid, tridecanoic acid, and combinations thereof. The binder is formed from the polymerization of a diisocyanate and at least three diols including a first diol containing a hydrophilic stabilizing group, and a second diol having less than 8 atoms in a backbone chain between two hydroxyl groups. A mole percentage of the second diol is at least 30% of a total mole percentage of diol monomers in the binder. An acid number of the binder ranges from 50 to 75. The composition also includes lithium present in an amount ranging from about 50 to about 400 ppm.

An inkjet ink includes a pigment incorporated in an aqueous ink vehicle. The pigment includes metal oxide and/or mixed metal oxide particles and a plurality of reacted dispersant molecules attached to the outer surfaces of the particles to form a coating on the outer surfaces. The reacted dispersant molecules are attached to the metal oxide and/or mixed metal oxide particle outer surfaces through a silanol linking group of the reacted dispersant molecules. The coating is present in an amount ranging from about 10 wt % to about 50 wt % with respect to the wt % of the metal oxide and/or mixed metal oxide particles.

Inkjet ink

The present disclosure is drawn to an inks, printed articles, and related methods. In one example, the a neutral gray reflective ink can include an aqueous liquid vehicle, iron oxide reflective particles having an average particle size from 3 nm to 180 nm dispersed in the aqueous liquid vehicle, and a dye system solvated in the aqueous liquid vehicle. The iron oxide particles and the dye system are present at relative concentrations to provide a reflective ink that is neutral gray.

Neutral gray reflective ink

A colorant dispersion for an ink includes a liquid medium and metal oxide particles dispersed in the liquid medium. The metal oxide particles include a mixture of i) metal oxide particle cores having an organic ligand interacted with respective surfaces thereof, ii) metal oxide particle cores having the organic ligand chemically bonded to respective surfaces thereof, and iii) products of a reaction between metal ions on respective surfaces of metal oxide particle cores and the organic ligand. The organic ligand is chosen from an organic ligand having a phenol group, an organic ligand having a carboxylate group, an organic ligand having an amine group, or combinations thereof. The metal oxide particles exhibit a color that is different from a natural color of the metal oxide particle core.

Colorant dispersion for an ink

A printed article with metallic luster and gold-like appearance that encompasses a printable media on which a printed feature has been formed with an ink composition. The ink composition contains iron oxide pigment particles that have an average particle 5 size in the range of about 3 to about 300 nm and the printable media contains a bottom supporting substrate and an ink-absorbing layer with pore diameters that are smaller than the average size of the iron oxide pigment particles. In such printed article, the ink composition forms onto the printable media a printed feature that has a thickness that is below about 300 nm.

Printed article

A printed medium having a metallic luster includes an ink-receiving layer on a substrate and a layer of metal oxide particles disposed on the ink-receiving layer. A portion of the ink-receiving layer corresponding to at least one feature includes a non-particulate, light-absorbing colorant dispersed in the ink-receiving layer. An amount of the non-particulate, light-absorbing colorant in the ink-receiving layer portion is sufficient to render a predetermined hue to the metallic luster of the at least one feature. The metal oxide particles have an average diameter of about 3 nm to about 300 nm. The ink-receiving layer has pores that are smaller than the average diameter of the metal oxide particles.

Metallic luster printed medium and method of preparing same

A method for producing printed articles that encompasses providing a first ink composition that contains metal oxide particles with an average particle size in the range of about 3 to about 300 nm; providing a second ink composition that contains colored pigments dispersed in an ink vehicle; providing a printable media having a bottom supporting substrate and an ink-absorbing layer with pore diameters that are smaller than the size of the metal oxide pigment particles and colored pigments; and sequentially applying, on the same print area, the first and the second ink compositions onto said printable media. Also disclosed herein are the printed articles obtained according to the present method.

Printing method

Ink composition that includes from about 0.1 to about 10 wt % of metal oxide pigment particles, having an average particle size in the range of about 3 to about 300 nm, that are dispersed with polyether alkoxysilane dispersants; and from about 0.01 to about 3 wt % of water-soluble amphiphilic polymers or of water-dispersible polymer waxes, based on the total weight of the ink composition. Said ink composition forms, onto printable media, a printed feature that exhibits a metallic appearance. Also described herein are the resulting printed article and the method to produce it.

Photoimagable polymers, as well as dielectric materials and their manufacture and use in the production of printed circuit boards and printed wiring boards are described. The polymers comprise between about 30 and about 70 parts of a polyfunctional resin and between about 70 and about 30 parts of the condensation product of an epihalohydrin and a bisphenol based on 100 parts by weight of resin. The polymer is cured by a photocationic initiator. It is characterized by a glass transition temperature of at least about 140&#xb0; C. and a flex fatigue life of at least about 10,000 cycles at a 3% strain. Optionally, less than 10 parts of a third specified epoxy resin may be added to the mixture to improve flexibility without decreasing the glass transition temperature of the polymer.
