The disclosure is of an air ion and charge detector comprising a liquid crystal display device having an indicator electrode and a reference electrode, and connected to detect air ions or electrical charge and provide a visual indication thereof.

The disclosure is of apparatus for supporting a stack of documents and feeding the documents, one at a time, from the bottom of the stack to an operating position in a document processing machine.

Document feeder for document-handling machine

The solar energy absorber and fluid heater comprises a plurality of apertured hollow black balls disposed in a container of fluid to be heated, for example, as a layer along the bottom surface thereof. The sun's rays pass through the fluid and are absorbed by the surfaces and walls of the balls. The heated balls produce a flow of heated water throughout the container to heat all of the fluid therein. The solar energy absorber may also be a flat, dark colored plate which itself may carry apertured, fluid-receiving chambers.

The air ionizer comprises a sealed insulating housing containing a high voltage power supply and a half-wave modifier. Conductive brushes or filamentary elements are provided on the outside surface of the housing and are coupled to the power supply, either resistively or capacitively, so that they generate ions in the surrounding air. Capacitive coupling is to a conductive layer on the inner surface of the housing.

Air ionizer

A spin fired anti-aircraft projectile is fuzed to dispense circularly shaped propeller disks into a standing, ascending or descending type of fragment cloud in front of an invading target. The propeller disk warhead is designed to release a plurality of rotating disk shaped fragments having serrated peripheral cutting edges thereon which are capable of penetrating and incapacitating fast moving enemy aircraft.

A compact facsimile transceiver occupying minimum space includes a straight-line transmitter section and a receiver section disposed beneath a portion of the transmitter. The transmitter transports documents through its scanner section, one by one in essentially a straight line by means of simplified and improved paper-handling apparatus which holds the documents flat. An editor in the transmitter permits segments of the documents being transmitted to be selectively deleted from the transmission. The receiver includes a simple and efficient paper-cutter mechanism and paper-transporting apparatus.

Facsimile transceiver

A portable alarm is described wherein an alarm indication is obtained from remotely accessible areas. A flexible alarm event sensor is placed in the area sought to be protected. Incremental movements of the event sensor are detected and cause motion of a hub to enable a trigger element, which normally restrains an actuator, to be pivoted aside. The movement of the trigger element enables the actuator to be released to register indication of an alarm such as activating an acoustic sound source or the closure of a switch and the like. An alternate embodiment for a trigger mechanism in accordance with the invention is described.
