An electrical connector assembly includes a first conductive member and a second conductive member. The first conductive member includes a first channel portion extending from a first wedge portion, with the first channel portion configured to receive a first conductor therein. The first conductive member includes a jaw movably coupled to the first channel portion and being positioned between the first channel portion and the first wedge portion. The second conductive member includes a second channel portion extending from a second wedge portion where the second channel portion configured to receive a second conductor. The first wedge portion and the second wedge portion are assembled such that the second wedge portion engages the jaw and moves the jaw to the closed position. The jaw engages the first conductor in the closed position. Optionally, the first channel portion may have a contoured shape.

Transverse wedge connector

A connector assembly for joining bare or insulated conductors includes a first member and a second member which cooperate to act as clamps. The first member has two beams connected by a body and tabs extending from the center of the body substantially parallel to the two beams. The distal end of the beams each have a receptacle for receiving a conductor. The cross-section of the first member may be Sigma- or E-shaped. The second member has two contact planes, each facing a receptacle, and has a body facing surface that complements the shape of the inner surface of the body that it engages, including a groove for receiving the tabs. The second member is guided by the tabs of the first member when moved by operation of a fastener from an unloaded position, where the second member engages the body, to a loaded position in which the second member is pushed away from the body and holds the conductors securely in place in the receptacles. This connector assembly is adaptable for hot stick applications.

An electrical connector assembly includes a first conductive member having a first hook portion and a first base portion, wherein the first hook portion extends from the first base portion, and a second conductive member having a second hook portion and a second base portion, wherein the second hook portion extends from the second base portion. A wedge member is nested between the first and second base portions, wherein the wedge member is movable in a loading direction. The wedge member drives the first and second base portions away from one another as the wedge member is moved in the loading direction. The first hook portion and the second base portion cooperate to securely engage a first conductor therebetween, and the second hook portion and the first base portion cooperate to securely engage a second conductor therebetween.

Connector assembly for conductors of a utility power distribution system

A connector assembly for connecting first and second elongate electrical conductors includes an electrically conductive first connector member, an electrically conductive second connector member, and a clamping mechanism. The first connector member includes: a first body having inner and outer opposed ends; a first hook portion on the outer end of the first body, the first hook portion defining a first channel to receive the first conductor; and a first abutment portion on the inner end of the first body. The second connector member includes: a second body having inner and outer opposed ends; a second hook portion on the outer end of the second body, the second hook portion defining a second channel to receive the second conductor; and a second abutment portion on the inner end of the second body. The clamping mechanism is selectively operable to displace the first and second connector members relative to one another from an open position to a clamping position to clamp the first conductor in the first channel and between the first hook portion and the second abutment portion and to clamp the second conductor in the second channel and between the second hook portion and the first abutment portion to thereby form a connection.

Connector assemblies and methods for forming a connection between cables

An electrical circuit assembly includes a housing. A connector member is attached to and extends through an opening in a wall of the housing. The connector member has a contact member on an end thereof outside the housing and a longitudinally extending bore therein extending towards and having an opening into the housing. The wall may have substantially no cracks therein in a region proximate the opening. A pin is provided having a first end positioned within the bore and a second end extending from the opening of the bore. A portion of the connector member around the first end of the pin is collapsed to contact and retain the pin within the bore and to contact an inner surface of the wall to retain the connector member within the wall. Methods and connector members are also provided.

Housings with wall mounted connector members, connector members and methods of forming the same

A device includes a housing assembly that has a first housing member having an inner periphery defining an opening and a second housing member having an outer periphery. The second housing member is mounted within the opening such that the outer periphery and the inner periphery define a contact slot therebetween. A contact member extends through and away from the contact slot. The contact member is captured in the contact slot by the first and second housing members.
