A method for improving safety and property protection in schools comprising fixed and mobile safety and security devices, networked together. A software App provides real-time communication among various devices. The network integrates disparate security devices into a unified system to expand coordination and communication among public safety personnel. The system automatically triggers alarms, cell phone notifications, and warnings, as well as defensive measures, when its sensors or safety devices detect or report threats to public safety and property. Each device in the system is pre-programmed to respond independently while simultaneously sharing its findings with all other devices and security personnel in the network. Deployment of these disparate devices gives security personnel heightened awareness, real-time status of secured and unsecured building entrances, around-the-clock visualization, and faster response times in both indoor and outdoor emergencies.

System for improving safety in schools

A system comprising: a sensor configured to be introduced into a clearance hole of a surgical implant, wherein the sensor is configured to be introduced in proximity to a generated magnetic field and cause distortion of the magnetic field; and one or more field measuring coils configured to: measure a characteristic of the magnetic field when the sensor is in proximity to the magnetic field; and provide, to a computing device, a signal representative of the measured characteristic of the magnetic field, wherein the computing device is configured to determine one or both of a position and an orientation of the sensor and the clearance hole based on the measured characteristic of the magnetic field.

Tracking a cylindrical opening

A system comprising: a transmitter that includes at least three coils, the transmitter configured to generate magnetic fields; a sensor that includes at least three coils, the sensor configured to provide sensor signals that correspond to the magnetic fields generated by the transmitter; and a computing device in communication with the transmitter and the sensor, the computing device configured to compare a first sensor signal and a second sensor signal, and based on the comparison, determine whether any of the sensor coils are locked to a corresponding frequency out-of-phase.

A safety and security device is housed on either an unmanned aerial vehicle or its land-based docking station and is combined with a cellular telephone for self-defense purposes. The phone broadcasts both recorded audio and video warnings on the device. A flashing light may be activated on the aerial platform or the docking station. The device may be integrated into a modular unit that combines numerous defensive mechanisms. These defensive mechanisms operate autonomously and respond to perceived threats.

In a sourceless orientation sensor, the sensor measures the three orientation angles azimuth, elevation and roll in a fixed reference three-dimensional coordinate frame. The sensor utilizes a three-axis magnetic sensor to measure changes in the Earth's magnetic field in order to determine the azimuth and roll (or elevation) angles after the elevation (or roll) angle has been determined by other means. A first embodiment utilizes a separate sensor to measure the elevation (or roll) angle in a fixed reference three-dimensional coordinate frame while a three axis magnetic sensor is used to measure the Earth's magnetic field. The azimuth and the roll (or elevation) angles are then determined from these measurements. A second embodiment utilizes a combination of a three-axis accelerometer to sense the Earth's gravity to measure the absolute elevation and roll angles for slow motions and a two-axis rate sensor to measure the azimuth and elevation velocities in the sensor frame. A direct method employing translation and integration is used to find the azimuth and elevation angles in the fixed reference three-dimensional coordinate frame. The roll angle is then found from the magnetic sensor measurements. Other embodiments are disclosed.
