An approach is provided for generating web-based augmented reality application viewer. A web-based server application receives a request from a web client for visualization information associated with a web application that renders a perspective-based display. The web-based server application facilitates a processing of the request to execute the web application. One or more web-based server applications at one or more web-based servers cause a generation of one or more images, one or more sequences of the one or more images, or a combination thereof based, at least in part, on the execution of the web application, wherein the one or more images, the one or more sequences, or a combination thereof depict a rendering of a user interface of the web application. The one or more applications transmit the one or more images, the one or more sequences, or a combination thereof as the visualization information for presentation.

Method and apparatus for web-based augmented reality application viewer

An approach is provided for generating a virtual environment for controlling one or more electronic devices. A mapping platform causes, at least in part, a rendering of a user interface depicting a virtual environment comprising one or more representations of one or more devices, one or more accessory devices associated with the one or more devices, or a combination thereof. Method and apparatus for generating a virtual environment for controlling one or more electronic devices

This invention describes a method for expanding universal plug and play capabilities in a power constrained environment thus facilitating communication between two terminals with universal plug and play (UPnP) application capabilities, wherein one of the terminals is in a sleeping mode. The present invention can be applied (but not be limited) to mobile terminals, wireless devices, portable devices, mobile communication devices, mobile phones, etc. The invention describes a mechanism in which the UPnP application dynamically instructs the TCP/IP stack to tune-up its parameters so that it can tolerate longer delays and timeouts, due to the fact that it operates in a power constrained UPnP environment.

Various methods are described for expanding the display of a web application across multiple devices. One example method may comprise receiving an indication of content associated with a main frame of a web application. The method may further comprise displaying of the content associated with the main frame. Furthermore, the method may comprise searching for one or more external devices. Each of the one or more external devices may comprise a display for rendering content associated with a respective expanded frame of the web application. The method of this example embodiment may further comprise establishing a connection with the one or more external devices. Method and apparatus for multi-browser web-based applications

Modifying remote service discovery based on presence involves identifying service discovery data using ad-hoc, peer-to-peer, service discovery protocols of a local network. The service discovery data is aggregated via an entity of the local network. Presence data associated with a remote device located outside of the local network is identified and the aggregated service discovery data is altered based on the presence data. The altered aggregated service discovery data is made available to the remote device using out-of-band communications. The out-of-band communications are different from the service discovery protocols of the local network.

A system and method for creating a virtual private network through a VPN gateway configuration service. The VPN gateway configuration service inherits UPnP zero-configuration characteristics and also provides an interface for configuring the VPN gateway that enables the configuration of any VPN gateway device, regardless of manufacturer. Additionally, the device control protocol defined by the VPN gateway configuration service can provide client provisioning, as well as enabling the configuration of gateway-to-gateway virtual private networks.

A mobile device is coupled to an ad-hoc, peer-to-peer local area network via a public network. A secure data connection is created between the mobile device and an access point of the local area network so that the mobile device operates in an address space of the local network. A proxy for the mobile device is operated on the local network. The proxy maintains one or more state variables related to operation of the mobile device on the local network. The proxy simulates a reduced power mode of the mobile device on the local network for purposes of shaping traffic over the secure data connection and provides the state variables to entities of the local network on behalf of the mobile device.

A protocol for use as a phase 1 authentication (and key agreement) IKE protocol, similar to IKE phase 1 authentication with public key encryption, but using the IMS AKA trust infrastructure instead of the PKI trust infrastructure.
