An integrated circuit (IC), including a functional circuit and a security system, is disclosed. The functional circuit generates a request packet for an indirect memory access of a memory. The security system validates the functional circuit based on a security attribute and a functional identifier of the functional circuit. Based on the request packet and the validation of the functional circuit, the security system identifies an instruction sequence associated with the indirect memory access. Further, the security system determines a type of the indirect memory access based on the instruction sequence, and validates the type of the indirect memory access based on the security attribute and the request packet. Based on the validation of the type of the indirect memory access, the instruction sequence is executed, thereby facilitating the indirect memory access for the functional circuit.

System and method for securing indirect memory accesses

An access control system controls access to a shared resource for various functional circuits. The access control system can include a comparison circuit, a processing circuit, and a selection circuit. The comparison circuit receives identification data associated with a functional circuit based on a transaction initiated by the functional circuit, and compares the identification data and reference data to generate a select signal. The processing circuit receives error data and response data outputted by the shared resource based on an execution of the transaction, and generates another response data. The selection circuit selects and outputs, based on the select signal, one of the response data outputted by the shared resource and the response data generated by the processing circuit as a transaction response that is to be provided to the functional circuit.

System and method for controlling access to shared resource in system-on-chips

A memory controller includes a large combinational cloud to serve multi-core-to-multi-bank memory accesses which causes congestion and routing delays at physical design level especially in lower technology nodes thus limiting the frequency of operation. Present invention proposes an architecture to process sequences of access requests from multiple processing cores using alternating processing to generate sequences of granted access requests to one or more memory banks. For each processing core, first and second buffers store access requests. When an access request from one buffer is granted, that buffer is configured to receive a new access request and processing is performed to determine whether to grant an access request stored in the other buffer. The invention can maintain optimal bandwidth while providing desired sequences of the granted access requests and solving physical congestion issues.

Multi-threaded architecture for memory controller data paths

A system for performing a data transaction between a memory and a master via a bus based on a strobe signal. The memory includes at least one memory bank having first and second cuts. The data transaction is either a read transaction or a write transaction. The system includes an input and output interface in communication with the master for receiving a data transaction request, an identifying unit that identifies a type of the data transaction, a control unit that selectively enables at least one of the first and second cuts based on the data transaction type, and a data processing unit that processes data to be read from or written to the enabled cut based on the data transaction type.

Method for performing data transaction that selectively enables memory bank cuts and memory device therefor

A memory controller receives first and second write transactions from a processor and stores write data in a memory. The memory controller includes an address comparison circuit, a buffer, a level control circuit, a command generator, and a control circuit. The address comparison circuit compares second and third addresses and outputs first and second write data when the second and third addresses are consecutive. The buffer stores the first and second write data and outputs buffered data based on a control signal. The level control circuit compares a size of the buffered data with a threshold size and the size of the buffer. The command generator causes a write transaction to be executed based on the comparison results, rather than having the processor initiate the transaction, which reduces the load on the processor, and the buffered write data is stored in the memory.

A memory controller that implements an interleaving and arbitration scheme includes an address decoder that selects a memory bank for an access request based on a set of address least significant bits included in the access request. A core requiring sequential access to memory is routed to consecutive memory banks of the memory for consecutive access requests. When multiple cores request access to the same memory bank, an arbiter determines an access sequence for the cores. The arbiter can modify the access sequence without significantly increasing the complexity of the memory controller. The address decoder determines whether the selected memory banks are available and also whether an access request is a wide access request, in which case it selects two consecutive memory banks.
