An electronic device includes an imager capturing one or more images of a subject engaging the electronic device and an audio input receiving acoustic signals having audible frequencies from the mouth of the subject engaging the electronic device. One or more processors determine from the one or more images of the subject whether the mouth of the subject is oriented on-axis relative to the audio input or off-axis relative to the audio input. The one or more processors adjust a gain of the audio input associated with a subset of the audible frequencies when the mouth of the subject is oriented off-axis relative to the audio input.

A deformable electronic device includes a flexible display, one or more sensors, at least one imager, and one or more processors. The one or more sensors detect deformation of the deformable electronic device. The at least one imager, which is disposed beneath the flexible display, captures one or more images of an identifiable marker of the flexible display in response to the one or more sensors detecting the deformation of the deformable electronic device. The one or more processors estimate an amount of the deformation of the deformable electronic device as a function of how far the identifiable marker of the flexible display translates across the at least one imager during the deformation of the deformable electronic device.

A first communication device includes a first display device having a first graphical user interface (GUI). A first image capturing device of the first communication device has a field of view that captures a face of a first user viewing the first GUI. The first image capturing device generates a first image stream of the field of view. A controller of the communication device identifies a look target area of the first GUI proximate to the first image capturing device. The controller presents visual content on the first GUI within the look target area to prompt the first user viewing the first GUI to look towards the look target area.

The described techniques entail displaying visual matter on the touch sensitive screen, detecting a touch on the housing surface, the detected touch having a touch location and touch pressure, and modifying the appearance of the visual matter on the touch sensitive screen based on the touch location and touch pressure.

A computing device includes a control system that communicates with multiple sensors that capture data regarding a user. The control system communicates with each of the sensors to obtain information regarding the capabilities of each sensor, and uses this capability information to determine how to configure each of the sensors. The control system also selects one of the multiple sensors to be the master sensor, and the rest of the multiple sensors are slave sensors, and notifies the multiple sensors of whether they are a slave sensor or a master sensor. The master sensor collects sensor data for the multiple sensors, capturing data itself as well as receiving data captured by the slave sensors from the slave sensors. The master sensor sends an indication of the collected data (e.g., the collected data itself or data resulting from processing the collected data) to the control system for analysis and/or processing.

The method includes measuring at least one orientation input from at least one orientation module of a wearable device. The method includes, during playback of first media content, receiving first data indicative of whether a consumer of the first media content is actively consuming the first media content. The method further includes evaluating, based on a comparison of the first data with comparative data, whether the first data indicates that the consumer is likely not currently paying attention to playback of the first media content. The method further includes identifying, based on a time of receipt of the first data that indicates that the consumer is not paying attention, a first time within the first media content at which the consumer stopped paying attention during the playback and resetting a playback location of the first media content to continue playback from the first time.

A method includes detecting touch input received by a first touch sensor that detects touch on a surface of an electronic device (ED), that has a connection interface enabling coupling with a second ED having a second touch sensor. The method includes, in response to detecting the touch input, determining a state of the connection interface as being a connected or disconnected state relative to the second ED. The method includes in response to determining the state is the connected state: determining whether the touch input is associated with a multi-device (MD) gesture. The method includes, in response to determining the touch input is not associated with a MD gesture, executing an independent local-only function associated with the touch input. System and method for touch interaction on a multi-display device

A communication device, method, and computer program product provide higher confidence in person detection by augmenting sensing with carbon dioxide sensing and contextual information. The communication device determines a current carbon dioxide level in a space in which the communication device is located. A processor of the communication device compares the current carbon dioxide level to a carbon dioxide baseline threshold that is indicative of presence of a person in the space. In response to determining that the current carbon dioxide level is greater than the carbon dioxide baseline threshold, the processor further determines whether at least one target is sensed within the space. In response to determining that at least one target is sensed in the space, the processor infers the presence of a person in the space and sets a control mode of the communication device that correlates to the presence of the person.
