There is provided herein a method and an apparatus for producing an isocyanatoorganosilane which method includes feeding a carbamatoorganosilane to a cracking device where it is thermally dissociated into a reaction product mixture comprising isocyanatoorganosilane, alcohol, and heavies, followed by separating the mixture in a distillation column of two parts and collecting the isocyanatoorganosilane from the distillation column via a side stream having a predetermined location between the top and bottom parts of the column; and wherein the distillation column is configured to have a ratio of the length of the bottom part of the distillation column to the length of the top part of the distillation column which is effective to provide a side stream having a high purity and high weight percent of isocyanatoorganosilane.

Preparation of isocyanatosilanes

A functionalized siloxane network. The functionalized network comprises a ligand attached to the network. The ligand includes a pyridine-containing compound, and in one embodiment, the ligand includes a terpyridine compound. The functionalized siloxane network can be siloxane particles. The functionalized siloxane network can coordinate metal ions and can be used in luminescent articles.

Functionalized siloxane materials

A functionalized siloxane includes a ligand capable of coordinating a metal. The functionalized siloxane includes a pyridine-containing ligand attached to a siloxane polymer. The functionalized siloxanes can be employed to provide complexes including a metal that may impart a desired property to the polymer. In one embodiment, the polymer can complex lanthanide metals that are capable of phosphorescing upon exposure to UV irradiation. Such polymers can be employed to provide functional materials such as, for example, luminescent films, coatings, etc.

Siloxane coordination polymers

A heterogeneous catalyst comprising a metal-containing polymer matrix covalently bonded to a support material and a method of making and using such catalysts. The metal-containing polymer matrix comprises metal nano-particles encapsulated in a polymer matrix, e.g., a siloxane. In one aspect, the metal-containing polymer matrix can be bonded to the support material via a hydrophobic group attached to the support material. The catalyst can be recovered after being used in a metal catalyzed reaction and exhibit excellent catalytic activity upon reuse in subsequent reactions.

High activity catalyst for hydrosilylation reactions and methods of making the same

There is provided herein a composition which contains hydride-functionalized siloxane or silane, a hydroxyl-containing compound that does not contain silicon, and a catalytically-effective amount of super acid or super base catalyst selected from the group consisting of a triaza-containing compound which contains only carbon, nitrogen and hydrogen atoms, an atrane compound, a linear or branched compound containing a sulfonyl group and a fluoro group, and combinations thereof. There is also provided a process of making such a composition.

Super acids and bases as dehydrocondensation catalysts

The present technology provides compositions, methods, and processes to form polysiloxanes. In one aspect, the present technology provides a process for the ring opening polymerization of a cyclosiloxane comprising contacting a cyclosiloxane with a N-trialkylsilyl-bis(perfluoroalkylsulfonyl)imide compound.

Catalyst for synthesis of siloxanes

The present technology provides compositions, methods, and processes to form polysiloxanes. In one aspect, the present technology provides a process for the ring opening polymerization of a cyclosiloxane comprising contacting a cyclosiloxane with a bicyclic guanidine compound. The guanidine-containing compounds useful in the ring opening reaction include a fused ring structure comprising a guanidine functional group as part of the fused ring.

Disclosed herein is a process for making 1,2,4-trivinylcyclohexane that is enriched in a particular geometric isomer. The process involves the thermal isomerization of 1,5,9-cyclododecatriene at temperature between 400&#xb0; C. and 600&#xb0; C. followed by an equilibration of the resultant intermediate in either the gas phase or liquid phase at temperature between 180&#xb0; C. and 375&#xb0; C. and at pressures ranging from 0.101 kPa to 1,013 kPa. Also disclosed are 1,2,4-trivinylcyclohexane compositions that are enriched in a particular geometric isomer.

Trivinylcyclohexane stereoisomeric compositions and methods for preparing same

A copolymer suitable for use in forming a solid polymer electrolyte film comprising a first monomer represented by Formula (1): wherein n is 2 to 1,000; m is 2 to 1,000; x and y are individually 1 to 100; p is 0 to 10; and q is 1 to 10, Ris an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and A is an alkyl acryloyl group an acryloyl group, alkyl acryloyl group, methacryloyl group, alkyl methacryloyl group, a vinyl group, an allyl group, a styryl group, or a combination of two or more thereof; and a second monomer chosen from a hydroxyl-substituted alkyl acrylate, a hydroxyl-substituted alkyl methacrylate, or a combination of two or more thereof. The copolymer may be used to form a solid polymer electrolyte composition comprising (i) the copolymer, (ii) a plasticizer, and (iii) a salt. The solid polymer electrolyte may be used to form a solid polymer electrolyte film, which may be suitable for use in electrochemical devices.
