This disclosure describes a video room system that can efficiently and flexibly generate and facilitate video rooms for video chatting between participant devices by prioritizing video streams to provide to participant devices based on performance parameters. For example, the video room system can provide different video room streams to different participant devices based on the performance parameters of the participant devices. In addition, the video room system can customize or tailor video room streams based on identifying dominant speaker devices, determining connections between participant devices as indicated by a social graph of a social networking system, and/or based on join methods utilized by participant devices to join a video room.

Dynamically modifying live video streams for participant devices in digital video rooms

Scheduling one or more users via potential calendars is presented. In preparing a potential schedule request, one or more potential time slots in which the to-be scheduled event may be held are identified. The potential schedule is sent to the scheduled users and the potential time slots for the potential schedule event are added to the users' calendars. In response to clarifying information, one or more potential time slots of the potential schedule request may be removed from consideration for the potential schedule event. A selection is made regarding a potential time slot for the potential schedule event and the potential schedule event is promoted to the explicit calendars of the scheduled users to be held at the selected potential time slot. In promoting the potential schedule event to the explicit calendars, the potential event is removed from the potential calendars, including any remaining potential time slots.

Scheduling using potential calendars

This disclosure covers methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and systems that receive a direct digital message for delivery to a recipient and then generate a relevance score representing the direct digital message's relevance to the recipient. The relevance score accounts for either or both of crowdsourced information and social-network signals. Based on the relevance score, the methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and systems either provide the direct digital message to the recipient's client device for display within a received-messages preview or provide the message to the recipient's client device for sequestration within a sequestration folder.

Generating a relevance score for direct digital messages based on crowdsourced information and social-network signals

A business interfaces with a messaging server to establish routing rules that associate particular types of requests from users of clients with specific roles of agents in an agent pool. A user of a client engages in a canonical messaging thread with the business server via the messaging server. The messaging server receives a call request from the client. The messaging server uses the routing rules to identify the agent role to serve the user's request. The messaging server may exchange routing messages with the user in the canonical thread. The messaging server selects an agent from the agent pool to service the user's call-based communication request based on the profiles of the agents and the identified agent role. The messaging server establishes a call between the user and the selected agent. The agent and user may exchange messages on the canonical thread between the user and the business.

Custom calling using a messaging system

This disclosure covers methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and systems that analyze a previously unrecognized communication number associated with a sender of a direct digital message when a client device receives the direct digital message from the previously unrecognized communication number. Based on this analysis, the methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and systems provide profile information associated with the communication number for the client device to present together with the direct digital message. To find relevant profile information for the communication number, the disclosed methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and systems optionally query a social networking system for profile information connected to the communication number.

Identifying profile information of senders of direct digital messages

Systems and methods for creating a calendar event on a calendar are presented. In response to a request to create a calendar event on a calendar, a first set of calendar event suggestions are presented to a user on a computing device. In response to a selection of a calendar event suggestion, an attribute corresponding to the selected calendar event suggestion is added to an attribute set. A subsequent set of calendar event suggestions are then presented on the computing device. In response to a selection of a subsequent calendar event suggestion, an attribute corresponding to the subsequent calendar event suggestion is added to an attribute set. A calendar event is created on the calendar according to the attributes in the attribute set in response to an instruction to create the calendar event.
