A system and method for painting a component () of a vehicle brake () includes a sealing plug () inserted into a recess (), the recess extending in the direction of a longitudinal axis (L) and which has an inner face () which is intended to be kept free from paint. The method includes providing the component () and introducing a sealing plug () into the recess () of the component. The sealing plug () has at least one sealing face (-) and the sealing face (-) is disposed inside the recess (). The sealing face is moved into sealing abutment with the inner face () in a radial direction. The method includes painting the component () after the sealing plug () has been introduced. The sealing plug blocks paint from being deposited on the inner face.

A mechanical wear gauge for detecting a brake liner wear and a brake disc wear of a disc brake for vehicles, in particular for utility vehicles, includes a brake liner wear detection mechanism and a brake disc wear detection mechanism. Brake liners and brake discs are subjected to a wear so that the brake liner thickness and the brake disc thickness decrease with an increasing period of use. A base member includes an arm member having a pincer leg. A first sliding member having a pincer leg is slidable relative to the base member and arm member to detect brake disc wear. A second sliding member, extending parallel to the first sliding member, is slidable relative to the base member to detect brake liner wear.

According to the invention, it is proposed that the brake carrier is structurally reinforced on the run-out side relative to the run-in side, and at least one running direction indicator for indicating the first rotational direction is arranged on the brake carrier.
