A dispersant composition includes a) at least one polymer constituted of monomers having naphthalene ring and/or melamine; b). at least one polymer having carboxylic acid and/or phosphoric acid group and/or any group that is hydrolyzed into carboxylic or phosphoric; and c). at least one polymer having a structure of Formula I: Ris hydrogen or alky group having carbon number not less than 1, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl group having carbon number not less than 3, alkenyl group having carbon number not less than 2, aryl group having carbon number not less than 6; Ris hydrogen or alky group having carbon number from 1 to 3; A is alkylene group having carbon number from 3 or 4; m and n are positive numbers wherein m is more than n and the sum of m and n is more than 9 and less than 12. Also provided is a method of using the dispersant composition in a mortar or concrete, and the weight percentage of the dispersant composition is from 0.01% to 2.5% based on the weight of cement in mortar. Further provided is an aqueous composition including the dispersant composition.

A non-ionic polyether-polyester copolymer for extending workability to a cementitious mixture containing hydraulic cement and water, wherein the copolymer includes residues of at least the following monomers: Component A including an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid ester monomer having a moiety hydrolysable in the cementitious mixture, wherein the hydrolyzed monomer residue has an active binding site for a component of the cementitious mixture; and, at least one of: Component B including an ethylenically unsaturated, carboxylic acid ester or alkenyl ether monomer having at least one Coxyalkylene side group of about 1 to 30 units; or, Component C including an ethylenically unsaturated, carboxylic acid ester or alkenyl ether monomer having at least one Coxyalkylene side group of 31 to about 350 units; wherein the molar ratio of Component A to the sum of the molar ratios of Component B and Component C is about 1:1 to about 10:1.

Copolymer admixture system for workability retention of cementitious compositions

The present invention discloses an emulsion polymerization process that comprises: (1) preparing an aqueous polymerization medium which is comprised of (a) at least one monomer, (b) a polymerization control agent, and an emulsifier, wherein the emulsifier is prepared in-situ within the aqueous polymerization medium; and (2) initiating polymerization of said monomer within the aqueous polymerization medium. The subject invention more specifically reveals an emulsion polymerization process that comprises: (1) preparing a monomer solution which is comprised of (a) at least one monomer, (b) a conjugate acid of a surfactant with a pKof less than 14, and (c) a controlled free radical polymerization agent; (2) preparing an aqueous medium which is comprised of (a) water, and (b) a conjugate base of a weak acid wherein the pKof the base is less than 14; and (3) mixing the monomer solution with the aqueous medium under conditions that result in the in-situ formation of an emulsifier, and (4) initiating free radical polymerization.

Controlled polymerization

The present invention discloses a process for synthesizing a hydrogenated polymer that comprises: (1) preparing a aqueous polymerization medium which is comprised of (a) at least one monomer, (b) a polymerization control agent, and an emulsifier, wherein the emulsifier is prepared in-situ within the aqueous polymerization medium; (2) initiating polymerization of said monomer within the aqueous polymerization medium to produce a latex of an unsaturated polymer; (3) treating the latex of the unsaturated polymer with (a) an oxidant selected from the group consisting of oxygen, air and hydroperoxides; (b) a reducing agent selected from the group consisting of hydrazine and hydrates of hydrazine; and (c) a metal ion activator to produce the hydrogenated polymer.

Hydrogenation and epoxidation of polymers made by controlled polymerization

The present invention discloses an emulsion polymerization process that comprises: (1) preparing an aqueous polymerization medium which is comprised of (a) at least one monomer, (b) a polymerization control agent, and an emulsifier, wherein the emulsifier is prepared in-situ within the aqueous polymerization medium; and (2) initiating polymerization of said monomer within the aqueous polymerization medium. The subject invention more specifically reveals an emulsion polymerization process that comprises: (1) preparing a monomer solution which is comprised of (a) at least one monomer, (b) a conjugate acid of a surfactant with a pKof less than 14, and (c) a controlled free radical polymerization agent; (2) preparing an aqueous medium which is comprised of (a) water, and (b) a conjugate base of a weak acid wherein the pKof the base is less than 14; and (3) mixing the monomer solution with the aqueous medium under conditions that result in the in-situ formation of an emulsifier, and (4) initiating free radical polymerization. This technique can be used to synthesize unique block polymers, such as a block polymer which is comprised of an A block and a B block, wherein the A block is a polymer block which is comprised of a vinyl aromatic monomer and wherein the B block is a polymer block which is comprised of (a) at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile and (b) a conjugated diolefin monomer, such as 1,3-butadiene or isoprene.

The present invention is directed to sulfine control agents for synthesizing polymers via controlled free radical polymerization and to the polymers resulting therefrom. Such polymers include repeat units derived from the controlled free radical polymerization, particularly reversible atom fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerization, of at least one vinyl-containing monomer, at least one conjugated diene monomer, or combinations thereof, in the presence of a sulfine compound having the formula: wherein Ris alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted alkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocycloalkyl or substituted heterocycloalkyl, and wherein Y is alkyl, cycloalkyl, substituted alkyl, heteroalkyl, heterocycloalkyl, substituted heterocycloalkyl, aryl, substituted aryl, heteroaryl, substituted heteroaryl, alkoxy, amino or thio.
