A spring-operated relief valve can include a main spring positioned between a bottom spring seat and a top spring seat. A seat assembly can include a valve seat, a seat retainer, and a spindle. The valve seat and the spindle can be received within an inner bore of the seat retainer and the spindle and the seat retainer can be threadably coupled. The valve seat can extend partially through the seat retainer to form a seal with a nozzle of the spring-operated relief valve and the spindle can engage the bottom spring seat to compress the main spring during a valve relief event.

Systems and methods for a valve and a valve assembly

A sensing arrangement for a relief valve having a valve body can include a valve body engagement member and a first sensor. The valve body engagement member can be secured to the valve body proximate to a valve seat of the relief valve. The first sensor can be in communication with the valve seat via the valve body engagement member. The first sensor can be configured to detect a valve event via detection of localized pressure changes at the valve seat.

Sensing arrangement for valves

A diaphragm assembly for a pressure relief valve can include a disc guide that is configured to receive a portion of a disc holder, a bonnet adapter, and a diaphragm that is clamped at an outer edge between the disc guide and the bonnet adapter. The diaphragm assembly can be positioned between a bonnet of the pressure relief valve and a valve body of the pressure relief valve to convert the pressure relief valve to a backpressure-balanced pressure relief valve by counterbalancing a backpressure that acts upon the disc holder.

Systems and methods for determining failure in a back pressure balanced relief valve

A spring-operated relief valve can include a biasing assembly, a valve inlet, a valve seat, and a disc assembly that is biased toward the valve seat by the biasing assembly. A fluid guide, such as a groove or chamber, can be formed at the interface between the valve seat and the disc assembly. The fluid guide can be configured to direct fluid that flows across the valve seat to provide an upward force on the disc assembly during a relief event.

Systems and methods for reducing simmer in a safety relief valve

A back pressure balanced relief valve can include a piston, a pressure balancing device, and a pressure sensor. A pressure chamber can be created between the pressure balancing device and the piston. The pressure sensor can be configured to monitor the pressure in the pressure chamber for indications of a potential failure of the balancing device.

A spring-operated relief valve can include an adjustable main spring to bias the valve closed and a load cell that is configured to measure a force exerted by the main spring. Measurements from the load cell can be used to determine a set or crack pressure in the spring-operated relief valve, and to monitor operation of the spring-operated relief valve.

Systems and methods for determining set pressure and lift of a spring-operated relief valve

A pilot-operated relief valve assembly can include a relief valve, and a pressure detection assembly. A valve lift factor or indicator of relief flow can be determined based on pressure measurements gathered by the pressure detection assembly.
