Wireless communication systems and methods related to Radio Link Control (RLC) status reporting are provided. A wireless communication device receives one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device determines missing RLC data PDUs in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device receives a first uplink (UL) grant. The wireless communication device transmits a first RLC status report including an indication of a first subset of the missing RLC PDUs less than all the missing RLC PDUs, the indication of the first subset of missing PDUs being based on a size of the first UL grant. The wireless communication device modifies a RLC status prohibit timer based on the transmitted first RLC status report indicating less than all the missing RLC PDUs.

Radio link control (RLC) status reporting

A receiving device re-establishing a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity. The receiving device resets a robust header compression (ROHC) context. The receiving device receives packet retransmissions having header compression based on the ROHC. The receiving device performs decompression of the packet retransmissions. The receiving device discards duplicate packets after performing the decompression of the packet retransmissions.

Robust header compression handling during packet data convergence protocol re-establishment

Aspects of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for fast hyper frame number (HFN) resynchronization of Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) Protocol Data Units (PDUs). A wireless communication device (e.g., a PDCP entity at a wireless communication device) can calculate a current PDCP count of a current PDCP PDU of a plurality of PDCP PDUs received from a radio link control (RLC) sublayer based on a PDCP sequence number (SN) of the current PDCP PDU and an HFN of a first missing PDCP PDU after a successfully received PDCP PDU. The PDCP count may be calculated using the HFN of the first missing PDCP PDU in response to a gap between the PDCP count of the first missing PDCP PDU and the actual PDCP count of the current PDCP PDU being greater than a PDCP window size.

Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating prioritizing PDCP retransmission and/or control information in dual connectivity scenarios are disclosed herein. An example method for wireless communication at a first network node includes receiving PDUs for transmitting to a second network node while operating in a dual connectivity mode associated with a first RLC leg and at least a second RLC leg, the PDUs associated with at least one of control information or retransmission data. The example method also includes transmitting first scheduling information via the first RLC leg and transmitting second scheduling information via the second RLC leg based on the PDUs being associated with at least one of the control information or the retransmission data. The example first network node may include a UE or a base station.

Techniques to facilitate prioritizing packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) protocol data units in dual connectivity

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some examples, a wireless communications system may support machine learning and may configure a user equipment (UE) for machine learning. The UE may transmit, to a base station, a request message that includes an indication of a machine learning model or a neural network function based at least in part on a trigger event. In response to the request message, the base station may transmit a machine learning model, a set of parameters corresponding to the machine learning model, or a configuration corresponding to a neural network function and may transmit an activation message to the UE to implement the machine learning model and the neural network function.

Configuring a user equipment for machine learning

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for releasing an RRC connection by a user equipment (UE). A method that may be performed by the UE includes establishing an RRC connection, determining a time duration for a release timer, resetting the release timer, monitoring the RRC connection, and releasing the RRC connection.

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may measure a parameter associated with a secondary cell group. The UE may perform an optimization response action for a dual connectivity mode of a first frequency parameter or a second frequency parameter when the parameter satisfies a threshold, wherein the optimization response action is associated with whether the secondary cell group is operating with the first frequency parameter or the second frequency parameter. Techniques for dual connectivity mode optimization

A user equipment (UE) configured for dual connectivity with a split bearer configuration may transmit uplink data packets to one or both a master cell group (MCG) and a secondary cell group (SCG). The UE may transmit an uplink transmission from a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity over one or both of a first radio link control (RLC) entity associated with the MCG and a second RLC entity associated with the SCG. The configuration including a transmit buffer threshold. The UE may receive, at the PDCP entity, an uplink switch start indication. The UE may activate the second RLC entity in response to receiving the uplink switch start indication. The UE may transmit a buffer status report according to a current transmit buffer level plus the transmit buffer threshold. Accordingly, the UE may communicate with the SCG based on the uplink switch start indication.

Method and apparatus to switch uplink transmission on uplink split bearer

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for packet buffering. A method that may be performed by a receiving node includes dynamically determining one or more time durations to buffer packets. The one or more time durations can be different than a time duration of a configured timer for buffering the packets. The receiving node may input one or more parameters to a machine learning algorithm and obtain, as output of the machine learning algorithm based on the input one or more parameters, one or more time durations to buffer packets. The receiving node buffers packets for the determined one or more time durations. The receiving node may use machine learning to dynamically determine the one or more time durations to buffer packet. The buffering may be at a radio link control (RLC) reassembling buffer and/or a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) buffer.

Dynamic packet buffering duration

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A system may support techniques for triggering user equipment (UE) assistance information (UAI) based on mobility, wake up signal (WUS) configuration, or both. In some cases, a UE may communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station) on a first channel according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The UE may determine that a speed of the UE satisfies a mobility threshold and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the speed of the UE satisfying the mobility threshold. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may receive signaling configuring the UE to monitor for WUSs and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the WUS configuration. The UE may receive control signaling configuring the DRX configuration with the one or more requested parameters in response to the UAI.

Triggering user equipment (UE) assistance information based on mobility and wake up signal (WUS) configuration

A method of wireless communication, by a user equipment (UE), includes setting up a secondary cell group (SCG) with a second radio access technology (RAT) that differs from a first RAT associated with a master cell group (MCG). The method also includes communicating wirelessly via the secondary cell group and the master cell group. The method further includes predicting a radio link failure (RLF) for the secondary cell group based on multiple inputs to a machine learning model. The method still further includes routing data transmission from the secondary cell group to the master cell group, after predicting the SCG RLF.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, a control message indicating a resource configuration for uplink and downlink transmissions. The UE may determine an uplink buffer threshold for a modem buffer of the UE based on the resource configuration. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a feedback request message requesting that the base station provide feedback for at least one previously transmitted uplink packet based on a comparison of an amount of previously transmitted uplink data and scheduled uplink data stored in the modem buffer relative to the uplink buffer threshold. The UE may receive, based on transmitting the feedback request message, a feedback response message corresponding to a first previously transmitted uplink packet of the at least one previously transmitted uplink packet.

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for managing scheduling requests (SRs) in a user equipment (UE) that supports a split data radio bearer (DRB). In some aspects, the UE may trigger a first SR for a first communication link and a second SR for a second communication link in response to determining that a first amount of data in the UE data buffer is greater than a first threshold. The UE may transmit the first SR to a first base station (BS) via the first communication link. Prior to transmission of the second SR, the UE may determine whether a second amount of data in the UE data buffer is less than a second threshold. The UE may cancel the second SR in response to the second amount of data in the UE data buffer being less than the second threshold.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for dynamically determining an uplink data split threshold for communicating using one or more radio link control (RLC) entities of a split bearer configuration. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes inputting a first set of parameters to a machine learning algorithm, obtaining, as an output of the machine learning algorithm based at least in part on the inputted first set of parameters, a value for a data split threshold, and transmitting the data using at least one of a first RLC entity or the second RLC entity based on the value for the data split threshold and the amount of data the apparatus has to transmit.
