In one example, the present disclosure describes a device, computer-readable medium, and method for automating the end-to-end deployment of applications in a data center. For instance, in one example, a set of characteristics is extracted from an electronic signal. The set of characteristics pertains to an application to be deployed in a data center. A load balancer on which to deploy the application is automatically selected, based at least in part on the set of characteristics. A workflow is automatically generated for deployment of the application on the load balancer. The workflow coordinates actions among a plurality of computing resources of the data center that are used to configure the application according to the set of characteristics.

Automated end-to-end application deployment in a data center

Concepts and technologies disclosed herein are directed to providing redundancy for satellite uplink facilities using software-defined networking ('SDN'). According to one aspect disclosed herein, a satellite network system can include a video collection facility ('VCF'), a remote uplink facility (&#x201c;RUF&#x201d;), and a diverse uplink facility (&#x201c;DUF&#x201d;) in direct communication with a core network. An SDN controller that operates in an SDN network that provides logical SDN links to the VCF, the RUF, the DUF, and the core network. The SDN controller can track a site configuration of the RUF. The SDN controller can detect that the RUF has been downed due to an adverse event such as inclement weather. The SDN controller can obtain the site configuration of the RUF. The SDN controller can cause a redundant remote uplink facility (&#x201c;RRUF&#x201d;) to be instantiated with the site configuration of the RUF.

Redundancy for satellite uplink facilities using software-defined networking

A system, method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to configuring out-of-home streaming between a mobile device and a set top box (STB). Internet connectivity establishment (ICE) agents, installed on the mobile device and the STB, determine telemetry information via communication with network address translator (NAT) servers. Communication agents, installed on the mobile device and the STB, translate the telemetry information into a format acceptable to a communication server. The communication server exchanges the telemetry information between the mobile device and the STB and maintains a persistent connection with the STB. The communication agents connect the mobile device to the same communication server that the STB is persistently connected to. Media content is streamed directly from the STB to the mobile device if a direct connection between the STB and mobile device is established and via the NAT servers if a direct connection cannot be established.

Network address translator (NAT) traversal for out of home streaming

A system, apparatus, and method provide the ability to process media content streams. A primary and backup multiplexer are each configured to receive and multiplex multiple video streams to output IP multicast streams with unique unicast addresses. A primary and backup uniform transport processing system (UTPS) join the IP multicast streams and output each stream using a unique multicast group. Multiple virtual local area networks (VLANs) separate the joins of the primary UTPS from the joins of the backup UTPS. Primary and backup modulators join the IP multicast streams output from the primary or backup UTPS and convert the joined stream to radio frequency for uplink to a broadcast distribution network.

Redundant universal transport processing system

A system for viewing on-demand content includes a user receiving device and a local head end in communication with the receiving device that communicates metadata and material identifiers for on-demand content. Each on-demand content is associated with one of the material identifiers. The user receiving device stores the metadata and the material identifiers for the on-demand content. The local head end receives content. Each content is associated with one of the material identifiers. The user receiving device communicates a request for on-demand content data signal to the local head end. The local head end communicates a manifest comprising material identifiers for content stored at the head end. The user receiving device, after receiving the manifest, displays metadata from the memory of the user receiving device corresponding to the material identifiers.

Method and system for prepositioning content and distributing content in a local distribution system

A system for securely communicating callback signals to a head end includes a callback server and a user device communicating a request to open a callback session to the callback server. The callback server opens a first session between the callback server and a user device. The user device communicates an encrypted callback data signal to the callback server through the first session. The callback server opens a second session between the callback sever and a conditional access system associated with a head end, verifies the callback data signal at callback server, and communicates the encrypted callback data signal to the conditional access system through the second session. The conditional access system decrypts the encrypted callback data signal to form decrypted callback data.

Method and system for securely performing callbacks in a content distribution system

A method and apparatus for assigning processing requests is disclosed. The method is typically used in a processing system comprising a first processing center and one or more second processing centers remote from the first processing center, a. A method of assigning a processing request may comprise the steps of: determining at a traffic distribution controller a capacity of each of the processing centers to process the processing request, accepting a processing request in the first processing center, and assigning the processing request to at least one of the second processing centers according to the determined current capacity of each of the processing centers. The processing request is initially addressed to a first global address of the first processing center, then the processing request is readdressed to a second global address of one of the second processing centers.

A primary decoder within the remote facility is communication with the IP backhaul and forms a decoded signal from the first IP signal. The primary decoder belongs to the first multi-cast group. A primary encoder within the remote facility communicates with the primary decoder and forms a first encoded signal from the decoded signal. A multiplexer multiplexes the first encoded signal into a multiplexed signal. A monitoring system includes commanding the primary decoder to join the second multicast group and discontinue the first multicast group. The primary decoder forms the decoded signal from the second IP signal.

Method and system for monitoring and controlling a back-up receiver in local collection facility from a remote facility using an IP network

A system and method for collecting signals includes an IP network, a remote facility and a local collection facility in communication with the local collection facility through the IP network. The local collection facility receives channel signals, encoding the channel signals into respective IP signals, communicating the respective IP signals through an IP network to the remote facility. The remote facility controls an antenna switch at the local collection facility to communicate a first channel signal of the channel signals to a monitoring receiver circuit module. The local collection facility generates a monitoring signal at the monitoring receiver circuit module and communicates the monitoring signal through to a remote facility through the IP network.

A multiplexer in the remote facility multiplexes the first encoded signal into a multiplexed signal. The multiplexed signal may provide an output signal used for uplinking or other type of distribution.

A method and system for communicating a conditional access signal through a network includes a source segment generating a first conditional access packet signal comprising a first header having a first destination identifier with a first format. The system also includes a first routing server associated with the source segment generating a second header with a second destination identifier having a second format different than the first format and replacing the first header with the second header. The system also includes a second routing server in communication with the first routing server through the network. The second routing server replaces the second header with a third header having a third destination identifier having the first format to form a third conditional access packet signal. A system and method for monitoring a plurality of local channel signals that includes a monitoring system for receiving the plurality of local channel signals and for converting channel signals into RF signals. Method and system for testing an integrated receiver decoder with signals from outside the local market area

A multi-ring IP multicast network is implemented with 'N' instances of an Interior Gateway Protocol (IGP). Each IGP instance is autonomously configured on a different ring network to provide service separation between ring networks. Each IGP instance announces the one or more sources that are mapped on the associated ring network. Each source is announced in one and only one IGP instance so that the source is mapped on one and only one ring network. An 'N+1' instance of the IGP is implemented on the core routers that are connected to receivers to merge and redistribute the &#x201c;N&#x201d; distinct instances of the IGP to the distribution and access routers between the core router and receiver. This effectively merges the N IGP instances at each node so that the multi-ring network appears as a virtual single-ring network with a single IGP instance allowing each of the receivers access to any source connected to the network.
