An apparatus that can determine the water wettability of fluid at simulate downhole conditions. For example, a spacer fluid and a drilling mud mixture can be tested under a specified pressure and a specified temperature that simulate downhole conditions. Additionally, a shear rate may be applied to the fluid mixture that is substantially identical to the shear rate that will be exerted on the mixture due to downhole geometries and conditions. The apparatus may also provide the viscosity of the fluid under the designated pressure, at the specific temperature, and under the specified shear rate. The apparatus may also be used to determine the amount of spacer fluid that would need to be added to a drilling mud to improve the rheological properties of the mixture to provide adequate water wettability as well as the displacement of the mixture during the cementing process of a wellbore.

High temperature fluid test instrument

Aluminum silicate and/or fibrous mineral-containing cement compositions for cementing wellbores in high stress environments, such as for cementing multi-lateral completions. The cement compositions typically comprise a mixture of a reactive aluminum silicate and/or fibrous mineral such as wollastonite, and may include one or more other additives. The cement compositions may be used to produce set cements offering improved compressive strength, flexural strength, and/or tensile strength over conventional cement compositions.

Stress resistant cement compositions and methods for using same

Aluminum silicate-containing cement slurries for cementing wellbores in deepwater and cold environments, or in wellbores susceptible to fluid intrusion. The aluminum silicate-containing slurries may also be used as high strength, low density cements for wellbore cementing applications under a variety of conditions. The cement slurries typically comprise a mixture of a reactive aluminum silicate and hydraulic cement, and may include one or more other additives. The cement slurries may optionally be foamed using a foaming agent and energizing phase.

Method and compositions for use in cementing

An additive blend for a well cementing composition is shown which comprises a copolymer of acrylamide and 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonate, the sodium salt of naphthalene formaldehyde sulfonate, and polyvinylpyrrolidone polymer. The fluid loss additive is mixed together with a hydraulic cement and water in an amount to produce a pumpable slurry. The cement slurry is pumped to the desired location in the wellbore and allowed to harden to a solid mass.
