Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications network, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes determining a reporting quality threshold for a parameter related to channel state information (CSI); performing a measurement for each of a plurality of beams from a first predetermined set of beams for evaluation; evaluating the measurement for each of the plurality of beams against the reporting quality threshold; discontinuing the performing and evaluating of measurements in response to determining that the reporting quality threshold is met for one of the beams, such that one or more beams in the first predetermined set of beams are not measured and evaluated; and reporting, to the wireless communications network, CSI for the one of the beams.

Methods and apparatus in a fifth-generation wireless communications, including an example method, in a wireless device, that includes receiving a downlink signal comprising an uplink access configuration index, using the uplink access configuration index to identify an uplink access configuration from among a predetermined plurality of uplink access configurations, and transmitting to the wireless communications network according to the identified uplink access configuration. There is disclosed a method of operating a receiving radio node in a radio access network. The method includes selecting, from a set of defined reception beams formed by reception beamforming, one or more beams for processing, wherein selecting is based on a beam quality representation determined for one or more beams of the set for one or more transmitters.

Reception beam selection for a radio access network

A method performed by a first radio node for estimating channels in a wireless communication network is provided. The first radio node receives a signal from a second radio node in the wireless communication network. The signal has multiple beams. For each of at least some of the multiple beams the first radio node obtains information about a beam-specific signal quality, adapts (any one or more out of: channel estimation parameters and channel estimation methods related to the beam, based on the beam-specific signal quality, and estimates a channel of the beam using any one or more out of: the adapted channel estimation parameters and the channel estimation methods.

Radio node and method for estimating channels in a wireless communication network

A method for communications is proposed. The method may comprise determining a numerology for beamforming training supportable by a network node and a terminal device. The method may further comprise configuring the numerology for the beamforming training. The numerology may define radio resources with adaptive properties used for transmissions of beamforming training signals. The method may further comprise performing the beamforming training based at least partly on the configured numerology.

Adaptive numerology for beamforming training

Some embodiments include a method in a wireless device capable of uplink transmission in a wireless communication network. The wireless device comprises a plurality of antenna ports. The method comprises determining one or more subsets of the plurality of antenna ports. Each subset of antenna ports comprises antenna ports that can be coherently combined to form a precoding of a transmission layer for transmitting from the subset of antenna ports. The method further comprises communicating an indication of the one or more subsets to a network node, and receiving, from the network node, an instruction of a precoding to use for an uplink transmission. The method further comprises precoding an uplink transmission based on the received instruction, and transmitting the transmission to the network node.

Hybrid-SRS combination signaling

A method for estimating Multiple Input Multiple Output, MIMO, channel state information for a radio link between a first radio node including a number N, N&#x2265;2, of receiving antenna ports and a second radio node including a number M, M&#x2265;2, of transmitting antenna ports. The method includes obtaining partial channel state information from a reference signal transmitted by a number X, 1&#x2264;X&#x3c;M, of said transmitting antenna ports and received by all of said receiving antenna ports, said partial channel state information providing a measure for the N&#xd7;X propagation channels between all of said receiving antenna ports and said transmitting antenna ports. Method and devices for estimation of MIMO channel state information

A technique for selecting a transport format for a multiple-input multiple-output, MIMO, channel between a first station and a second station is described. The first station comprises M first antenna ports, wherein M&#x2265;2. The second station comprises N second antenna ports, wherein N&#x2265;2. As to a method aspect of the technique, a channel estimation is performed based on reference signals received at the M first antenna ports from a subset comprising Xsecond antenna ports among the N second antenna ports, wherein 1&#x2264;X&#x3c;N&#x2264;M. The channel estimation results in a partial channel state relating to the Xsecond antenna ports to the M first antenna ports. At least one extended channel state is constructed based on the partial channel state.

Technique for selecting a MIMO transport format

There is disclosed a method of operating a radio node arrangement in a radio access network. The method includes receiving signaling from a plurality of antennas, the signaling representing transmissions received by the plurality of antennas; performing a transformation of the signaling into a test beam space representation, the test beam space representation pertaining to a subset of reception beams selected from a set of reception beams; and determining a reception quality representation of the test beam space representation. The method includes, if the reception quality representation fulfils a quality requirement condition set, performing further processing based on the test beam space representation; or otherwise, amending the subset of reception beams and returning to receiving signaling and/or performing a transformation. The disclosure also pertains to related devices and methods.

Beam selection and combining for radio access network

There is disclosed a method of operating a receiver arrangement in a radio access network. The receiver arrangement is adapted for receiving a plurality of antenna signals from a plurality of antennas, wherein the plurality of signals is collected to form a collected signal. The method includes transforming the collected signal into beam space based on a transform base, to provide a set of beams, selecting a subset of beams from the set of beams and evaluating the subset of beams for a quality requirement. If evaluating results in the quality requirement not being fulfilled, either the subset of selected beams is changed and it is returned to evaluating or the transform base is changed and it is returned to transforming. The disclosure also pertains to related methods and devices.

Detection of weak users in beam selection for massive MIMO receiver

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods, apparatuses and computer program for spatial pre-processing of signals in a wireless communication system. The method is implemented at a receiving device side and comprises: receiving signals from a transmitting device via a plurality of antennas; and determining, for a resource unit, a spatial pre-processing scheme to be applied to the signals before baseband processing, based on information related to one or more of the received signals, the transmitting device and the receiving device. The method may provide enhancement of signal strength, reduction in complexity of baseband processing, and/or reduction in amount of data to be transmitted over various interface within the receiving device.

Methods and apparatuses for spatial pre-processing of signals in a wireless communication system

Disclosed are methods and network nodes for allocating resources for multiple radio links in a wireless communication system. The method may include successively performing each of multiple scheduling loops such that the resources with one or more of multiple resource types are allocated to one or more radio links selected from the multiple radio links, wherein each of the multiple scheduling loops is associated with the one or more of multiple types of the resources. With the proposed methods and network nodes, radio resources of different types may be effectively and efficiently allocated to multiple radio links through multiple scheduling loops and utilization efficiency of the resources could be notably boosted.
