Methods and apparatuses are provided for centralized radio access network (CRAN) scalability. In one embodiment, a network node includes processing circuitry configured to cause the network node to schedule at least one wireless device according to a radio resource partition, the radio resource partition representing a division of radio resources between at least two schedulers of a same cell, and each radio resource partition of the cell being assigned to a corresponding scheduler of the at least two schedulers; and receive, from at least one scheduler of the at least two schedulers, an indication of an amount of the radio resources that are scheduled by the at least one scheduler. In one embodiment, a network node includes processing circuitry configured to cause the network node to send, to a master scheduler, an indication of an amount of the radio resources that are scheduled by the network node.

Methods and apparatuses for supporting centralized radio access network (CRAN) scalability

According to one or more embodiments, a first network node of a first radio access technology, RAT, configured to communicate with a second network node of a second RAT different from the first RAT is provided. The first network node includes processing circuitry configured to: schedule a physical resource block, PRB, in a predetermined frequency carrier range where the scheduling starts from a predefined frequency location in the predetermined frequency carrier range, receive an indication that the PRB has been scheduled by the second network node, and responsive to the received indication, discard the PRB scheduled by the first network node if the PRB is located outside of a first predetermined partition of radio resources allocated to the first network node.

There is provided a method in a controlling node to efficiently assign spectrum to nodes representing wireless base stations which are using/sharing the same block of spectrum. The nodes are organized in a graph where connections between nodes represent potential of interference. The nodes are grouped based on the ability to handle mutual interference. The method includes: determining recursively a plurality of clusters of nodes of increasing sizes; and assigning a bandwidth to nodes in each cluster, based on the size of the cluster. By so doing, the spectrum allocation can be optimized, allowing each node access to an increased amount of spectrum.

A method and network node for classification of interference connections between Citizens Broadband Radio Service Devices, CBSDs, in a wireless communication network are provided. According to one aspect, a method includes calculating an interference level, the calculation being based on whether two interfering CBSDs are operating in one of the alternate channels, adjacent channels and the same channel. The method also includes comparing the calculated interference level to a threshold to determine a classification of an interference connection.

Methods and apparatus for protecting a dynamic protection area (DPA). In one embodiment, an electronic device detects that the DPA is activated in the vicinity of a location recorded within a geolocation database. The electronic device compares a threshold representing acceptable interference and an estimated aggregate interference by the set of CBSDs to a set of points within the DPA. The electronic device moderates transmission by one or more CBSDs within the set of CBSDs when the estimated aggregate interference is higher than what is acceptable to the DPA.

The interference determination may comprise modeling the radio environment within the second PPA and surrounding areas based on the spectrum grant request to determine whether an aggregate interference level exceeds a threshold.

A method in a controlling node for controlling resources in a shared channel is provided. The method comprises: receiving from a network node, a request for resources in the shared channel; in response to the request, determining a utility function representing a performance metric for the network node based on transmissions from other network nodes using the shared channel; and in response to determining that the utility function satisfies a threshold, granting the resources in the shared channel to the network node. Cumulative interference allocation

The present disclosure relates to a method and system in a wireless network for radar detection in certain bands e.g. bands normally used for unlicensed access. In one broad aspect, a method is provided for a network node configured to control wireless transmissions in a frequency band also used for radar transmissions. In that method, the network node controls the wireless transmissions using a transmission cycle pattern defined by a transmit on time and a transmit off time. The method includes after a wireless transmission during the transmit-on time of a first transmission cycle, detecting, during the transmit-off time of the first transmission cycle, at least one radar pulse in the frequency band and extending the transmit off time of a second transmission cycle based on the at least one radar pulse detected. Advantageously, in some implementations, extending the transmit off time when one or more radar pulses are detected provides more time to detect a larger number of pulses which as a result, may improve radar detection accuracy.

The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for determining the location of a wireless device in a shared cell deployment/system. In some embodiments, a method of operation of one or more network nodes comprises obtaining separate samples of at least a portion of one or more uplink transmissions received by at least a subset of a plurality of Receive/Transmit (R/T) points in a shared cell from a wireless device. The separate samples comprise, for each R/T point of the at least a subset of the plurality of R/T points in the shared cell, a sample of at least a portion of an uplink transmission received by the R/T point from the wireless device. The method further comprises performing multilateration based on range estimates for ranges between the wireless device and the at least a subset of the plurality of R/T points determined from the separate samples.

Timing based UE positioning in shared cell environment

A method of a network node of a time division duplex (TDD) system is disclosed. The method comprises acquiring a maximum cell synchronization error, determining a number of symbols of a partial uplink subframe (PUSF) based on the maximum cell synchronization error, and transmitting an indication of a PUSF configuration to at least one PUSF capable wireless communication device, wherein the PUSF configuration indicates the determined number of symbols of the PUSF. The method also comprises sending an uplink grant signal to one or more of the at least one PUSF capable wireless communication devices, wherein the uplink grant is for a PUSF immediately preceding another subframe to be used for downlink transmission. Transmitting the indication of the PUSF configuration may comprise broadcasting the indication or including the indication in the uplink grant signal. The method may further comprise receiving an indication of PUSF capability from the at least one PUSF capable wireless communication device, thereby identifying the at least one PUSF capable wireless communication device as PUSF capable. Corresponding computer program product, arrangement and network node are also disclosed.
