Devices for treating obstructive sleep apnea include appliances for securing to one or more teeth of a patient and connected to a lingual bridge configured to change shape and apply pressure to a patient's tongue, preventing backward movement of the tongue and blockage of the patient's airway. The lingual bridge is composed of a shape memory alloy to allow the bridge to change shape once deployed in a patient's oral cavity and exposed to increased temperature in the patient's mouth. Pulse generators and electrodes are included to electrically stimulate the nerves and muscles of the tongue to assist in keeping the tongue from moving backward in the mouth during sleep.

Systems and methods for treating a gastrointestinal condition of a patient includes minimally invasively implanting a modular or non-modular stimulation system in a patient's treatment site. The treatment site is in or on a gastric wall and electrical stimulation is provided to the gastric wall to improve a function or pressure a lower esophageal sphincter of the patient. Electrical stimulation is provided for a short period of time and treatment efficacy is evaluated through clinical results and patient reporting. If therapy is not effective, stimulation parameters may be changed.

An anastomosis device includes magnets coupled to a wire capable of changing shape from a straight wire into a coil when deployed within a body. The coil exerts compressive force upon layers of tissue caught between loops of the coil. One end of the wire is preferably provided with a connecting member, such as a screw or a nut, for connecting with a delivery device.
