Systems and methods for producing MTBE are disclosed. A Cfeed stream containing isobutylene and other Chydrocarbons is fed into a reactor unit for producing MTBE. The effluent of the reactor unit comprising MTBE is further processed to produce a MTBE product stream that comprises at least 90 wt. % MTBE. At least a portion of the MTBE product stream is then recycled back to the reactor unit.

Systems and methods for MTBE production

Rare earth element containing catalysts for dehydrogenating paraffins and the methods of making the catalysts are disclosed. A rare earth modified alumina support in eta-alumina form, theta-alumina form, or combinations thereof is impregnated with chromium-containing solution. The chromium-impregnated support is then subjected to calcination processes. The produced catalyst contains the rare earth element, chromium, and alumina. The crush strength of the produced catalyst is greater than 0.4 daN/mm.

Catalyst for paraffin dehydrogenation

A method for the dehydrogenation of lower alkanes is disclosed. The method employs a chromium-alumina dehydrogenation catalyst with high chromium content supported on eta-alumina. The catalyst contains greater than 25 percent by weight chromium in the form of chromium (III) oxide, and exhibits extended stability over traditional alkane dehydrogenation catalysts.

A catalyst for non-oxidative dehydrogenation of alkanes and a method for making and using the same is disclosed. The catalyst can include vanadium oxide derived from vanadyl oxalate. More particularly the catalyst is prepared by a method comprising the steps of: (a) contacting a transition alumina support with an aqueous solution comprising a vanadium carboxylate material solubilized therein; (b) heating the contacted alumina support to remove the water and produce a catalyst precursor material in solid form; and (c) heating the solid catalyst precursor material in the presence of an oxidizing source at a temperature of 500 to 800&#xb0; C. to produce an alumina supported catalytic material comprising vanadium oxide. The catalyst can be further modified with an alkali metal oxide like potassium oxide, the precursor thereof being introduced with the impregnation solution.

Vanadium oxide supported catalyst for alkane dehydrogenation

A method for producing methanol is disclosed. The method includes supplying a high oxygen content oxidant to combust hydrocarbons, in particular methane, and then using the resulting hot gases to heat natural gas so as to convert the natural gas to synthesis gas. The synthesis gas is used to produce methanol in a methanol synthesis reactor. At least some of the carbon dioxide from the hot gases is fed to the methanol synthesis reactor to make methanol.

A method of purifying alcohol produced in a process that includes the Oxo process is disclosed. Aldehyde from the Oxo process that remains with the alcohol is removed by a reaction with an alkali sulphite to produce an insoluble adduct and alcohol having a reduced amount of aldehyde mixed with it. A fixed bed reactor for cyclic, catalytic dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons, such as alkanes and a reactor-internal device for improving distribution of hydrocarbon feed into the fixed catalyst bed of the reactor. The device comprises a vertical deflector plate with multiple horizontal slits and a frustum cone with multiple perforations on the lateral surface, connected to the bottom end of the plate. The reactor includes a main horizontal reaction vessel containing a fixed catalyst bed and a cactus-shaped inlet assembly sub-divided into three inlets at the upper half portion to supply fluid streams, including hydrocarbon feed, to the catalyst bed. The distributor device is positioned inside a main central vertical arm of the inlet assembly form by the convergence of the three inlets. Various embodiments of the distributor device where the slit thicknesses, distance between slits, perforation diameter, distance between perforations are varied, are also provided.

Reactors and reactor-internal devices for dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons

Lateral movement detection may be performed by employing different detection models to score logon sessions. The different detection models may be implemented by and/or utilize counts computed from historical security event data. The different detection models may include probabilistic intrusion detection models for detecting compromised behavior based on logon behavior, a sequence of security events observed during a logon session, inter-event time between security events observed during a logon session, and/or an attempt to logon using explicit credentials. Scores for each logon session that are output by the different detection models may be combined to generate a ranking score for each logon session. A list of ranked alerts may be generated based on the ranking score for each logon session to identify compromised authorized accounts and/or compromised machines. An attack graph may be automatically generated based on compromised account-machine pairs to visually display probable paths of an attacker.

Method to remove carbonate from a caustic scrubber waste stream

The present invention provides methods of forming dialkyl carbonate wherein catalyst buildup in the reaction equipment, the separation equipment, and transfer lines there between is reduced and even eliminated. In one embodiment, the method includes introducing alkanol, carbon monoxide, oxygen, and a catalyst to a reactor having a gaseous head space and a liquid body space. The reactor is operated under conditions to form dialkyl carbonate and water. A product stream containing dialkyl carbonate, water, and residual reactants is removed from the head space of the reactor and introduced to a cyclone with a flushing stream. A liquid bottom stream is captured from the cyclone and introduced to the reactor. The gaseous top stream contains product dialkyl carbonate.
