Maintaining a registered state via server-managed notifications is described herein. In an example, server(s) can receive an indication from an application associated with a device, the indication can identify a response to a registration request sent by the application for registration with a service provider. Based at least partly on the indication, the server(s) can start a first timer associated with a first predetermined time interval after which the server(s) are to send a first notification to the application. The server(s) can determine, based at least in part on the first timer, a lapse of the first predetermined time interval and can send the first notification to the application. The first notification can cause the application to transition from an inactive state to an active state, and send a new registration request to register with the service provider to maintain a registered state.

Server-managed notifications for maintaining registered state

Systems and methods are described herein for handling video calls placed on hold or otherwise parked by one or more parties within the video call. The systems and methods can determine a video call has been placed on hold (or otherwise set to be parked), and transfer the video call to a call park server (CPS). The systems and methods can then access a content server, retrieve one or more content items (e.g., video clips, interactive content or advertisements, and so on), and present the content items within the on hold video call.

Presenting content during video call hold events

Systems and methods for providing additional functions on a user equipment (UE) with an over-the-top (OTT) application are disclosed. The systems and methods can enable the UE to register with a telephony application server (TAS) using a subscriber identity module identification (SIM ID). The registration can enable communications directed to a cellular number, for example, to be redirected to the UE via a Wi-Fi connection through a wireless residential gateway (WRG). The OTT application can enable the UE to utilize the SIM ID to send and receive communications via a cellular network, an internet protocol (IP) network, or both. The OTT application can also provide applications and capabilities that are not otherwise available on the UE. An OTT settings graphical user interface (GUI) can enable the user to dynamically configure how communications are sent and received in response to changing conditions or preferences.

Systems and methods for providing SIM-based applications and services

A light-weight solution for media handovers between different Radio Access Technologies (RAT) is provided. A user may switch from Wi-Fi to Cellular Data (e.g., LTE/4G/3G/ . . . ), from Cellular data to Wi-Fi, and the like. In contrast to a 'make-before-break' design for switching between RATs, the technologies described herein are a 'break-before-make' design. When a change in a RAT is detected, an application on the computing device utilizing the connection is notified of the change. Instead of removing connection information, the connection is maintained for a configurable period of time such that the application can re-register with the network to continue the communication session. During a transition to a second RAT, the application provides one or more notifications to the user of the change in RAT. For instance, a graphical user interface (GUI) can be displayed showing the change and/or a tone can be played indicating the change in the RAT.

Changing radio access technologies to connect to a network

A telecommunication network provides telecommunication service to a user equipment (UE) and a communication device that is connected to the telecommunication network via a private branch exchange. Both the UE and the communication device utilizing a Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN) for the telecommunication service, and the telecommunication network stores a profile associating both the UE and the communication device with the MSISDN. Additionally, the telecommunication network enables communication between the communication device and a communication partner device and notifies the UE of the communication.

This disclosure is directed to engaging in a communications session, such as an audio call, video call, and/or an audio/video (A/V) call, using a first user equipment (UE) and then seamlessly switching to a second UE while the communications session is in progress. The A/V call system may be configured to provide an indication to the first UE of other UEs that may be registered with it using a common user account. The first UE may enable a user to select another of his or her UEs to transfer the ongoing communications session. The first UE may send the A/V call system a request to transfer of the communications session. The A/V system may add the second UE to the communications session and disengage the first UE from the communications session.

Transfer of a communications session to another user equipment

Automated unavailability response for call handling is used to notify an incoming caller that a subscriber is unavailable to answer the incoming call. An incoming call that is initiated from an originating caller device is received at a network server for routing to a terminating user device of a specific subscriber. A user profile of the specific subscriber that includes one or more unavailability notification settings for the incoming call is retrieved from a user profile database. An unavailability notification message is selected from a data store based at least on the one or more unavailable notification settings. The unavailability notification message is sent from the network server to the originating caller device.

Automated unavailability response for call handling

Techniques are described herein for providing call logs for cellular and internet calls that are rerouted to one or more terminating caller devices. The techniques include: organizing a call routing scheme based on call routing configuration settings, the call routing scheme directing routing of incoming calls to one or more user devices that receives service from a telecommunications network; receiving a call log request from a user device that includes a unique identifier of the user device or a user; transmitting the call log request to a database server of the telecommunications network to obtain a call log for an incoming call to the one or more user devices, the incoming call being routed according to the call routing scheme; and sending the call log to the user device to display the call log information at the user device.

Advanced call log notifications

During a call session between a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE managed by a call application server, the first UE can send a request to a conference application server to upgrade the call session to a meeting session. The conference application server can set up the meeting session. Once the first UE and the second UE have joined the meeting session with the conference application server, the first UE and the second UE can end their legs of the original call session with the call application server. The first UE and the second UE can transition their user interfaces from a call mode to a meeting mode upon joining the meeting session, such that users are seamlessly transitioned from a call to a meeting.

Call to meeting upgrade

Systems and methods are described herein for controlling the roaming behaviors of mobile applications, such as applications provided by mobile devices. In some embodiments, the systems and methods may determine that a mobile device is connected to a roaming network, and prompt or otherwise cause a user to authorize a mobile application to use the roaming network for sending and receiving data. Other details are provided herein.

Systems and methods for enabling one-way video calling are disclosed. The system can enable user equipment (UE) with varying capabilities to communicate in an asymmetrical manner. A UE receiving an incoming two-way video call can request that the call be 'downgraded' to a one-way video-in call, a one-way video-out call, or even an audio-only call. The system can include a multi-way video graphical user interface (GUI) to enable the user to choose between accepting an incoming two-way video call or requesting a different type of call (e.g., a one-way video call or an audio-only call). The system can also include a call initiation GUI to enable users to select between two-way video, one-way video, or audio-only for outbound calls. The system can also include a call modification GUI to enable users to modify the parameters for an incoming call prior to initiating the call.

Systems and methods for providing one-way video calls

Systems and methods for providing additional video call transfer functionality are disclosed. The systems and methods can enable a video call between a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE to be transferred to a video call between the second UE and a third UE either a video call or an audio call. The systems and methods can also enable the third UE to accept a transferred video call or to request that the video call be downgraded to an audio call. The systems and methods can incorporate a multimedia resource function (MRF) to connect to the second UE while the transfer is being negotiated and effected. The MRF can provide an audio stream and a video stream to the second UE to provide a 'video hold' feature&#x2014;to prevent the video call from dropping to an audio call automatically or dropping altogether.
