A hydrogen cooled pressure packer, systems, and methods of operation are provided. The pressure packer can include a flange portion and a plurality of packing cups coupled to the flange portion. One or more packing cups of the plurality of packing cups include at least one injection channel extending therethrough and terminating in at least one injection port. The pressure packer can also include a seal abutted with at least one packing cup of the plurality of packing cups. The pressure packer can be configured for use in a hydrogen compressor operable within a hydrogen vehicle refueling facility.

Cooling system for a hydrogen compressor

Method and device for lubricating a connection. A housing is configured to house a crankshaft adapter that connects an oil pump to a compressor. The housing includes a shell forming a round cavity configured to receive the crankshaft adapter; an oil feed conduit configured to enter through the shell into the round cavity and to deliver oil; a first drain conduit, opposite to the oil feed conduit, and configured to enter through the shell into the round cavity; a plug provided in the first drain conduit; and a second drain conduit configured to enter through the shell into the round cavity. The second drain conduit is located between the oil feed conduit and the first drain conduit, substantially between 50 and 130 degrees relative to the first drain conduit on a periphery of the shell.

Reciprocating compressor crankshaft adapter and method

A threaded joint includes a flange, a nut and a flexible seal. The flange, the nut and the flexible seal have threads respective inner surfaces, the threads having shapes complementary to threads on an outer surface of a stem. The flange is configured to allow the stem to move by rotation through the flange. The nut and the flexible seal are configured to move by rotation relative to the stem. The flange has a counter bore and the nut has a groove. The flexible seal has a first portion configured to fill the counter bore in the flange, and a second portion configured to fill the groove of the nut.

Mechanical overloads in a reciprocating gas compressor can cause irreparable damage to compressor components if the source of the overloads is not repaired. A method of detecting mechanical overloads includes applying an overload indicator across an interface between components in the compressor, and observing a mechanical condition of the overload indicator. The mechanical condition of the overload indicator is indicative of whether the compressor experienced a mechanical overload. By placing the indicator in an appropriate location in the compressor, overload conditions can be checked during routine inspections and maintenance checks.

Method for prevention/detection of mechanical overload in a reciprocating gas compressor

Mechanical overloads in a reciprocating gas compressor can cause irreparable damage to compressor components if the source of the overloads is not repaired. A method of detecting mechanical overloads includes forming a mechanical fuse that is configured to strain under overload conditions, and observing a condition of the mechanical fuse. The condition of the mechanical fuse is indicative of whether the compressor experienced a mechanical overload. By simply observing the mechanical fuse, overload conditions can be checked during routine inspections and maintenance checks.

A method of determining fuse parameters in a reciprocating gas compressor ensures a safe failure upon exceeding an overload limit. Stresses and bolted joint behavior for critical components in compressor running gear are evaluated using a finite element analysis. Capabilities of the critical components during an overload event are evaluated using a propagation and variances tool. The capabilities of the critical components are compared against overload conditions. At least one of an optimal fuse location and a fuse geometry are determined according to the comparison to establish a safe failure point upon exceeding the overload limit. With a mechanical fuse defining a failure point, critical compressor components can be protected from damage, and personnel can be protected from risk of a gas leakage.
