A method and information handling system (IHS) resets one or more system registers of the IHS. The method includes receiving, by the IHS, a system register reset request. In response to receiving the system register reset request, an auxiliary power disable signal is sent to an auxiliary power source and a system register reset enable signal is sent to a register reset controller. The method further includes disabling, by the auxiliary power source, an auxiliary power source output in response to receiving the auxiliary power disable signal. The method further includes disabling, by the register reset controller, a system register power source in response to receiving the system register reset enable signal. The method further resets the one or more system registers to one or more default values in response to detecting that the auxiliary power source output and the system register power source are disabled.

Resetting system registers powered by independent power source

A cable for high speed data communications is provided. The cable includes a first inner conductor enclosed by a first dielectric layer and a second inner conductor enclosed by a second dielectric layer. The first inner conductor is substantially parallel to the second inner conductor and to a longitudinal axis. The cable includes a conductive shield wrapped around the first and second inner conductors, with an overlap of the conductive shield along and about the longitudinal axis. The overlap is aligned with a low current plane. The low current plane is substantially parallel to the first and second inner conductors, substantially equidistant from the first and second inner conductors, and substantially orthogonal to a plane including the first and second inner conductors.

A test structure for testing electrical properties of a material comprises a first loop and a second loop, which are connected to form a closed test loop. A signal generator, for generating a test signal, is coupled to the first loop and the second loop. A signal propagation switching logic is coupled to the first loop and to the second loop for alternatingly flipping the test signal between the first and second loops, such that the test signal moves uninterrupted through the closed test loop. A probe logic detects any degradation of the test signal as the test signal travels along the closed test loop.

The switch can include a first configuration adapting the CPU to both of the I/O bridges, and a second configuration adapting the CPU to a first one of the I/O bridges and a second CPU to a second one of the I/O bridges.

Structure for a flexibly configurable multi central processing unit (CPU) supported hypertransport switching

Embodiments of the invention address deficiencies of the art in respect to hypertransport-based switching for multi-CPU systems and provide a method, system and computer program product for flexibly configurable multi-CPU supported hypertransport switching. In one embodiment of the invention, a hypertransport switching data processing system can be provided. The system can include a CPU and at least two I/O bridges. Each I/O bridge can provide a communications path for data driven to a corresponding peripheral device from the CPU. Notably, the system can include a flexibly configurable hypertransport switch. The switch can include a first configuration adapting the CPU to both of the I/O bridges, and a second configuration adapting the CPU to a first one of the I/O bridges and a second CPU to a second one of the I/O bridges.
