A method and system for monitoring the location of an oral care device () within the mouth of a user, includes: an oral care device () having a light source (); an optical sensor () configured to receive light emitted by the light source and to receive light reflected from a user using the oral care device; a computing device () adapted to receive and process signals generated by the optical sensor, and programmed to: detect at least one facial feature of the user from the received light reflected from a user; estimate the location of the user's teeth according to the detected facial feature; determine a location of the light source according to the received emitted light; compare the location of the light source to the location of the teeth to estimate the position of the oral care device with respect to the teeth of the user.

System and method for tracking an oral care device

A handheld personal care device having one or more light emitting elements and one or more light receiving elements is disclosed. Each of the light receiving elements is configured to receive light and output a respective measurement signal representing measurements of the received light. The handheld personal care device also has a control unit to estimate a position and/or an orientation of the device relative to a subject. The light emitting elements and the light receiving elements are arranged on the device such that, depending on the position and/or the orientation of the device relative to the subject, at least one of the light receiving elements can receive light emitted by at least one of light emitting elements and reflected by a reflective surface in the environment of the subject. A system and method are provided for warning of an exposure of a second individual to an allergen by transfer from a first individual. Movements of the individuals are tracked so that allergen types and levels to which the individuals have been exposed can be obtained. Using knowledge of user sensitivity information to different allergens, it is determined if the first individual has been exposed to allergen types and levels which pose a risk to the second individual by GPS transfer from the first individual to the second individual. Thus, action can be taken when there is a determined risk of allergen transfer between individuals.
