A method and fluid antenna apparatus are disclosed that incorporate optical agitation of electrolytes. The fluid antenna comprises a substantially enclosed container having a transparent window, an electrolytic fluid disposed within the substantially enclosed container, a light source, the light source producing an optical beam, wherein the light source is configured to direct the optical beam into the container; wherein the transparent window is configured to receive the optical beam from the light source; and wherein the beam has sufficient intensity to enable movement of charged particles in the electrolytic fluid in the container via radiation pressure.

Method and apparatus for optical agitation of electrolytes in a fluid-based antenna

An antenna having an active radome for beam steering and/or nulling in accordance with several embodiments can include at least one omni-directional radiating element, a radome surrounding the radiating element, and a network of conductive segments that can be placed between the radome and radiating element. A plurality of switches can interconnect the conductive segments to form the network. The switches can be FET, MOSFET and optical switches, and can be selectively closed when the element radiates or receives RF energy to selectively establish connectivity between the conductive segments, which can achieve a selective Yagi-like effect for the antenna. The conductive segments network can have any geometric profile when viewed in top plan, such as octagonal, square and the like, provided the segments surround the radiating element. A processor can be used to provide a control algorithm, which can contain non-transitory written directions that selectively activate and deactivate the switches.

Systems and methods are disclosed for removing interference in a time-harmonic received composite signal, comprising, sampling an in-band interfering signal from a stationary transmitter at a stationary receiver; sampling a composite signal having the in-band interfering signal and an in-band desired signal from a stationary transmitter at the receiver, deriving at least one of a phase and time difference from the composite signal and sampled in-band interfering signal, applying the derived at least one of phase and time difference to the sampled in-band interfering signal to estimate a synchronized current in-band interfering signal, and generating the un-interfered, in-band desired signal by subtracting the synchronized current in-band interfering signal from a current composite signal.

Method and apparatus for shipboard co-site in-band desired signal extraction

A fluidic antenna is described, using an electromagnetic energy coupler, a non-metallic container coupled to the electromagnetic energy coupler, a fluid having charged particles moving through the non-metallic container at a predetermined rate, and a charge focuser disposed about the non-metallic container, wherein the electromagnetic energy coupler is configured to couple energy between the fluid and at least one of a transmitter and receiver, and the charge focuser is configured to adjust a cross sectional area of charged particles in the fluid to result in a fluid characteristic impedance that approaches that of a surrounding medium, thereby enabling at least one of launching and receiving electromagnetic energy.
