An image capture device may capture visual content of a video during a capture duration. The image capture device may be panned during the capture duration. Panning of the image capture device may be detected and a panoramic image may be automatically generated using the visual content captured during panning of the image capture device.

A constraint model that includes a representation of feasible viewing window placement within a source field of view of visual content may be generated by using a roll-pitch-yaw axes representation of viewing window placement and having a diagonal dimension of the viewing window that fit within vertical and horizonal dimensions of the source field of view. The constraint model may enable full horizon leveling of the visual content.

Optical center calibration may include obtaining one or more parameters for optical center calibration, obtaining an input image captured by an image capture device using a lens, and determining a calibration circle using the parameters and the input image. Determining the calibration circle may include extracting rays using the input image, estimating contours using the input image and the rays, and estimating the calibration circle using the input image and the contours. The calibration may be iteratively improved by repeating calibration based on the input image and a previous iteration of optical center calibration.

Optical center calibration

In a method, it is determined that a detachable lens is mounted on an image capture device in a first orientation. A first image of a controlled scene is captured with the detachable lens mounted in the first orientation. It is determined that the detachable lens is mounted on the image capture device in a second orientation that is rotated approximately 180 degrees from the first orientation. A second image of the controlled scene is captured with the detachable lens in the second orientation. A first image circle center of the first image is determined. A second image circle center of the second image is determined. An average image circle center is determined, based on the first image circle center and the second image circle center. The average image circle center is provided to an image stabilization algorithm when the detachable lens is mounted on the image capture device.
