A method for monitoring a transmitter () with a measurement () and a transmission unit (), with which a measurement () signal is generated that is dependent on a measurement quantity, and with the transmission unit () receiving the measurement signal, and based on the measurement signal, an output signal is transferred to a signal transmission element (). To makes it possible to recognize an error, an input signal is taken from the signal transmission element () and is transferred to the measurement unit () as a comparison signal which corresponds to the input is compared with a stored signal and based upon the outcome of the comparison, either the measurement signal is transferred from the measurement unit () to the transmission unit () or the transmission unit () is shifted into a definable state and an error signal is transferred to it.

Method for monitoring a transmitter and corresponding transmitter

A method for monitoring a transmitter that has a measurement unit and a transmission unit which are interconnected to each other in order to transmit signals. There is at least one connecting line for supplying power to the measurement unit which determines a measurement quantity and generates a measurement signal which is dependent on it. The transmission unit receives the measurement signal from the measurement unit, and based on the measurement signal, transfers an output signal to at least one signal transmission element. To provide a method for monitoring a transmitter which allows reliable displaying of an error as easily as possible and the shifting of the transmitter into a secured state, in the case in which the measurement unit detects the presence of an error state, the measurement unit acts on the connecting line.

Method for monitoring the state of a fill level measuring device operating according to the radar principle

A measuring arrangement for determining at least one measured quantity with a sensor device and a transmitter device that has a control device, a switch device and a signal output setting device. The control device is connected to the signal output setting device in the case in which the switch device is in the first state. The signal output setting device generates a fault signal as an output signal when the switch device is in the second state and/or that the signal output setting device is free of a connection to the control device. The sensor device keeps the switch device in the first state when the sensor device is supplied with energy above a definable minimum value. The control device reduces the power supply of the sensor device to a definable boundary value when it recognizes the presence of a fault state.

Measuring arrangement for determining a measured quantity

A level switch detects the fill level of a medium in a container and transmits a switch signal corresponding to the detected level. The level switch incorporates a signal generator for generating an electromagnetic signal, a measuring circuit, and a reference circuit into which the electromagnetic signal can be fed. The measuring circuit is so configured and positioned that the signal fed into the measuring circuit changes as a function of whether or not the measuring circuit is surrounded by the medium, while the reference circuit is so configured and positioned that the signal fed into the reference circuit remains unaffected by the fill level of the medium. A tap at a specific point on the measuring circuit collects the measuring voltage, a tap at a specific point on the reference circuit collects a reference voltage, and a voltage comparator compares the measuring voltage with the reference voltage and emits a comparison-derived switch signal. This permits the dependable detection of a specific level of the medium in the container while essentially eliminating errors due to changes in extraneous parameters such as temperature fluctuations. A method for detecting the fill level of a medium in a container employing the switch is also disclosed.
