The invention relates to novel 5-thioxylose compounds, preferably derivatives of the 5-thioxylopyranose type, to the process for their preparation and to their use as active principles of drugs intended especially for the treatment or prevention of thrombosis or cardiac insufficiency.

Compounds derived from 5-thioxylose and their use in therapeutics

5-thioxylose compounds, especially 5-thioxylopyranose compounds, a process for their preparation, and their use for treating and/or inhibiting thromboses, especially venous thromboses. The compounds correspond to formula I: in which the pentapyranosyl group represents a free or substituted 5-thio-&#x3b2;-D-xylopyranosyl group; R', R&#x2033; and R&#x2032;&#x2033; each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a C-Cacyl group, or two adjacent ones of them form a 1-methylethylidene bridge; Xand Xeach represent carbon or nitrogen; Yand Yeach independently represent carbon, nitrogen, sulfur or oxygen, with the proviso that if Yrepresents oxygen or sulfur, then Yrepresents carbon or nitrogen; R, R, R, Rand Reach independently represent hydrogen, a COORgroup where Rrepresents hydrogen or a C-Calkyl group optionally substituted by a phenyl ring, a halogen atom or a &#x2014;COORgroup; a C-Calkoxy group; a C-Cacyl group; a benzoyl group or a phenyl ring; and the addition salts and/or active metabolites of such compounds.
