This disclosure relates to collagen-like polypeptides and materials containing the same and uses in biomedical applications. In certain embodiments, this disclosure contemplates that collagen-like polypeptides and materials containing the same are functionalized with proteins or small molecules to create useful scaffolds for drug delivery or testing. In certain embodiments, collagen-like polypeptides and materials containing the same are used in cardiac patches, cosmetic surgery, bone grafts, tissue regeneration, and wound healing.

Embodiments are directed to fibrillar adjuvants. Epitopes assembled into nanofibers by a short synthetic fibrillization domain elicited high antibody titers in the absence of any adjuvant.

Alpha-helical peptide nanofibers as a self-adjuvanting vaccine platform

This disclosure relates to collagen like polypeptides, applications, and uses related thereto. In certain embodiments, the disclosure relates to collagen like polypeptides wherein hydroxy proline is substituted with amino proline and containing amino acids having side chains with carboxylic acids wherein the polypeptides are configured through electrostatic interactions of the amine and carboxylic acid groups to form solid structures. In certain embodiments, the disclosure contemplates modifications of these polypeptides in order to impart desirable properties to the solid structures.

Self-assembling collagen-like polypeptide sequences for applications and uses related thereto

In an embodiment, a number of synthetic protein triblock copolymers are provided comprising first and second end hydrophobic blocks separated by a central hydrophilic block. In particular, the synthetic proteins are elastin-mimetic proteins having improved mechanical characteristics and related methods of making the proteins with the capability of providing precise control over the mechanical properties. Provided are proteins used in a number of medical devices such as artificial blood vessels, shunts, stents or as embolic agents in situations where it is desired to stop or reduce blood flow or pressure in a localized region.
