A first input node receives a first input signal and a second input node receives a second input signal. The first and second input signals are in phase quadrature. An edge detector circuit senses the first input signal and produces a pulsed signal indicative of edges detected in the first input signal. A pulse skip and reset circuit senses the pulsed signal and the second input signal, and produces a reset signal indicative of pulses detected in the pulsed signal while the second input signal is de-asserted. A sampling circuit senses the second input signal and the reset signal, and produces an output signal that is deasserted in response to assertion of the second input signal and is asserted in response to a pulse being detected in the reset signal.

Microcode is stored in a program memory and intended to be executed by a central processing unit of a processing unit. The processing unit may include a memory controller associated with each program memory and a hardware peripheral. The method includes, in response to a request to update the microcode, a transmission, to each hardware peripheral, of a global authorization request signal obtained from an elementary authorization request signal generated by each corresponding memory controller, a transmission of a global authorization signal obtained from an elementary authorization signal generated by each hardware peripheral in response to the global authorization request signal and after satisfying a predetermined elementary condition, and an updating of each microcode by the corresponding memory controller only after the global authorization signal is received.

Method for managing an update of a microcode within a processing unit

A rotary element is equipped with a pattern representing a reflected binary code on at least three bits. A detection circuit is configured to sense the pattern and deliver an incident signal encoded in reflected binary code on at least three bits. The incident signal is converted by a transcoding circuit into an intermediate signal encoded in reflected binary code on two bits. A decoding stage decodes the intermediate signal and outputs at least one clock signal representing the amount of rotation of the rotary element and a direction signal representing the direction of rotation. A processing circuit determines the movement of the rotary element, and has at least one general purpose timer designed to receive the at least one clock signal and direction signal.

A programmable digital-to-analog converter includes an analog circuit that converts a binary word into a value of analog voltage and a digital circuit that supplies the binary word starting from a maximum value decremented by a decrement value.

Digital-to-analog converter

A control signal is applied to a pulse generating circuit configured to generate pulses that are modulated in width. A circuit provides for slope-compensation of the control signal. The circuit includes a digital-to-analog converter that generates a decreasing sawtooth signal. A triggering circuit operates to trigger steps of the sawtooth signal and resetting the sawtooth signal. The sawtooth signal is reset at a cadence of a frequency of the pulses that are modulated in width.

Switch-mode power supply control

An apparatus having a microcontroller includes a processing unit, an internal communication bus assembly, a volatile memory, a non-volatile memory, a logic error management circuit, and two interface circuits. A first interface circuit couples the processing unit to the volatile memory via the internal communication bus assembly. A second interface circuit couples the processing unit to the non-volatile memory via the internal communication bus assembly. When the microcontroller is operating, the interface circuits are arranged to retrieve and evaluate requested data from their respective memory without intervention from the processing unit. In the event a failure is detected, the logic error management circuit is arranged to assert a stop signal. In some cases, detecting a failure includes comparing a check value stored in memory with a check value calculated from the data retrieved from memory.

An analog-digital converter for converting an analog signal into a digital signal includes a first configuration register for configuring a first group of channels and a second configuration register for configuring a second group of channels. The conversion result of the channels of the first group is transferred to a memory via a direct memory access. Each channel of the second group of channels has an associated respective data register and the conversion results of the channels of the second group are stored in the respective data registers.

A method for cadence detection in a sequence of video fields is based on at least a search for cadence patterns in a sequence of bits representative of the motion in at least a part of the field from one field to another in the field sequence. The signaling of field skip and/or field repeat commands as applied to the fields in the field sequence is considered during the cadence detection operation so as to field skips and repeats.

Optical coupling device operates over a bidirectional data link between at least first and second communicators, each communicating data along a common wire of the data link. The device includes at least first and second optical couplers, each including a photon flux source and a photon flux detector. The photon flux source of the first and second optical couplers, respectively, is commanded by the first and second communicator, respectively. The photon flux detector of the first and second optical coupler, respectively, produces a signal on the data link at the first and second communicator, respectively, in response to the photon flux source of the second and first optical coupler, respectively, from the second and first communicator, respectively. An inhibitor inhibits the photon flux source of the second and first optical coupler, respectively, in response to an activation of the photon flux source of the first and second optical coupler, respectively.
