Two component whitening dentifrice composition which exhibits rapid whitening of stained or discolored teeth, which composition comprises a first dentifrice component containing a peroxide compound and the second component containing Fe ion implanted silicate clay, the first and second dentifrice components being maintained separate from each other until dispensed for application to teeth requiring the removal of stain and discoloration.

Dual component oral composition having accelerated tooth whitening effect

A dual component antiplaque and whitening dentifrice composition in which the first component is a paste composition containing an antibacterial agent such as Triclosan and the second component contains a peroxide compound such as hydrogen peroxide in a vehicle thickened with a combination of an inorganic thickeners and an organic thickener other than an alkylene oxide polymer wherein the antiplaque and whitening efficacy of the components is unimpaired when the components are physically separated prior to use and thereafter are mixed upon application to dental tissue.

A dual component tooth whitening composition is disclosed, which composition contains a peroxide whitening and a second ingredient incompatible with the peroxide compound, the second ingredient and the peroxide compound each being incorporated in separate dentifrice components which are physically separated until dispensed for use, the components retaining their original physical state when in contact, the first component being a composition containing a peroxide whitening compound in a vehicle thickened with a combination of a particulated water insoluble inorganic compound and an organic thickener other than an alkylene oxide polymer, and the second component containing the ingredient incompatible with the peroxide.

A method for inhibiting dental calculus concomitant with tooth whitening is disclosed wherein there is applied to the teeth an oral composition containing in a vehicle an amount of a anticalculus phosphate salt and an amount of calcium peroxide effective to whiten teeth, the vehicle containing about 4 to about 9% by weight water and an amount of calcined alumina effective to heighten the whitening effect of the CaO2, and allowing the composition to remain on the teeth for a time sufficient to effect whitening thereof.
