A wireless power transfer (WPT) device includes a polyphase coil network comprising a plurality of phases for transfer of high-frequency AC power, each one of the plurality of phases comprising a phase coil, wherein the polyphase coil network is configured to operate in a polyphase configuration to enable transfer of polyphase high-frequency AC power with a mating WPT device operating in a polyphase mode; and operate in a single phase interoperability configuration to enable transfer of single phase high-frequency AC power with a mating WPT device operating in a single phase mode.

Interoperable wireless charging with polyphase coil network

A motor vehicle has an electric system that includes an inverter with load contacts for connecting a load at a first voltage, first and second battery contacts, and charging contacts for connecting a charging station that provides a higher second voltage. A switching matrix of the inverter includes inverter power switches and two additional switches directly connected to different ones of the inverter power switches. In a first switching state, the additional switches set the inverter to a driving mode for driving the load at the first voltage. In a second switching state, the additional switches set the inverter to a charging mode for charging the battery at the higher second voltage. For this purpose, the additional switches connect the first and second battery contacts in parallel in the driving mode and in series in the charging mode.

A method operates a storage system for a vehicle. The storage system has a first storage module and a second storage module for providing electrical energy to or for receiving electrical energy from a distribution network. The distribution network is coupled to an electrical motor of the vehicle. The first storage module is coupled by a direct current voltage converter to the distribution network. The method determines whether an amount of a voltage difference between a power supply voltage of the distributor network and a first storage voltage of the first storage module is equal to or less than a voltage threshold value. The method carries out one or more measures for increasing the amount of the voltage difference when it is determined that the amount is equal to or less than the voltage threshold value.
