Methods for improving gaze tracking are presented. These methods eliminate the need for a separate initial calibration step to determine whether the subject is properly centrally fixated during testing. In one embodiment, whether the subject is centrally fixated is determined by identifying inlier and outlier gaze descriptors; the inliers are assumed to be associated with central fixation. This reduces the total time required for testing. These methods also improve the accuracy of gaze tracking during testing without the need for individual subject calibration. Instead, a database of reference eyes is used. The subject's eye can be compared to the reference eyes, and the mapping function for one or more reference matches can be used to estimate the subject's gaze direction. In another embodiment, previous calibration data from the same subject can be used to determine whether the subject is properly centrally fixated and/or the direction of the subject's gaze.

Systems and methods for improved ease and accuracy of gaze tracking

Various systems and methods for improved OCT angiography imaging are described. An example method of identifying intraretinal fluid in optical coherence tomography (OCT) image data of an eye includes collecting OCT image data using an OCT system. The data includes at least one cluster scan containing OCT image data collected at approximately same set of locations on the sample. A first motion contrast image is generated by applying a first OCT angiography processing technique to the cluster scan to highlight motion contrast in the sample. A second motion contrast image is generated by applying a second OCT angiography processing technique to the cluster scan to highlight motion contrast in the sample. An image displaying intraretinal fluid in the eye is generated using the first and second motion contrast images and then displayed or stored or a further analysis thereof.

Methods for high sensitivity flow visualization

Systems and methods for performing a visual field test of a patient are described. One example method for performing the visual field test of the patient using a visual field testing device having a refractive correction element, a patient support, and a motor operably attached to one of the refractive correction element or the patient support includes positioning the patient's head relative to the device using the patient support. An image showing the position of the eye relative to the refractive correction element is collected. The relative displacement of the eye with respect to the refractive correction element is determined based on the collected image. The motor is actuated in a manner to reduce the determined displacement. A series of test stimuli is displayed to the patient's eye and responses to the test stimuli are received from the patient. The responses are analyzed to make an assessment of the patient's visual field.

Systems and methods for improved visual field testing

Various methods of displaying combined structural and functional disease progression information of a patient's eye are described. In one exemplary method, a set of structural measurements of the patient's eye is received. The set of structural measurements are taken at a plurality of testing dates. A set of functional measurements of the patient's eye is received. The set of functional measurements are taken at a plurality of testing dates. A single viewport comprising a side by side display of structural and functional measurements over a common time scale is generated, which is then displayed or the results of the generated viewport are stored. The structural and functional measurements are arranged in a chronological order of testing dates over the common time scale. Further, a structural and a functional measurement that have testing dates falling within a certain time period are placed in close proximity to each other for comparison purposes.

Combined structure-function guided progression analysis

Systems and methods for improving the reliability of visual field test results are presented. In one embodiment, images of the eye are recorded during the presentation of visual stimuli and are displayed to the user to provide information on eye motion, eye position relative to trial lens, and eyelid closure during the test. Individual or combined images can be displayed for individual stimuli, specific test points, or points in the gaze trace in various embodiments of the invention.
