Apparatus, methods and articles of manufacture for electronic module assemblies are shown, comprising a pin organizer installed after a header is assembled to a module. Opposing forces tension the organizer, header and module assembly, so as to provide a relatively fixed anchor for the header upon the module, as well as providing orientation for the module and support for a pin array.

Electronic module assembly apparatus, methods and articles of manufacture

An electrical connector assembly is provided including a CPA, a first connector housing, a second connector housing, a retention assembly, and a CPA mounting assembly. The CPA includes a retention assembly biasing element. A retention assembly is mounted to at least one of the first and second connector housings to maintain the first and second connector housings in contact when they are mated. The retention assembly includes a removal element, and is movable between a locked and unlocked position responsive to contact between the retention assembly biasing element of the CPA and the removal element. At least one of the first and second connector housings has a CPA mounting assembly mounted thereto. The CPA is slidably mounted to the CPA mounting assembly and is movable to first, second, and third positions. In its first position, the CPA permits engagement of the first and second connector housings. In its second position, the CPA prevents engagement and disengagement of the first and second connector housings. In its third position, the CPA biases at least a part of the retention assembly and permits disengagement of the first and second connector housings.

Connector position assurance device and latch

An electrical connector is provided including matable first and second housings configured to receive electrical contacts. The electrical connector assembly includes a lever member having a cam arm engaging the first and second housing to connect the first and second housings to join corresponding electrical contacts. The first housing has a latch assembly engaging the lever member when the lever member is in a final engaged position. The first housing has a locking member that holds the cam arm in an insertion position. The first housing has a wire shield with feet and a tab that is retained in slots and a catch on the first housing. The electrical contacts have retention features that are retained in an encapsulate in a chamber abutting the second housing.

Electrical connector assembly with connection assurance features

An electrical housing assembly is provided having a connector with an outer enclosure and a mating opening. The assembly further includes a header having a mating portion to engage the mating opening of the connector. A latch assist member is mounted to one of the header and connector and is movable between open and closed positions relative to the outer enclosure. The latch assist member includes passage ways receiving slide assist members that are mounted on the other of the header and connector. The passage ways and slide assist members cooperate to forcibly draw the header and connector into a fully mated position when the latch assist member moves to the closed position relative to the outer enclosure. A connector position assurance device (CPA) is slidably mounted to one of the connector and header and movable between locked and unlocked positions. The CPA secures the latch assist member in the closed position when the CPA is moved to its locked position.

Assembly (10) includes at least one pair of retention members (12) at ends of a board-mounted receptacle connector and defines guide channels (26) for insertion thereinto of a module (20) or card (18). A latching member (50) is pivotably mounted to each retention member (12) to be pivoted into latching engagement with a recess (38,40) of the module or card. A detent is defined by a stop embossment (70) such that an actuator arm (56) of the latching member latches therebeneath to prevent counterrotation of the latching member after latching, to assure maintenance of the latched condition.
