Lateral boundaries of a fluidic passage of a fluidic device incorporating at least one BAW resonator structure are fabricated with photosensitive materials (e.g., photo definable epoxy, solder mask resist, or other photoresist), allowing for high aspect ratio, precisely dimensioned walls. Resistance to delamination and peeling between a wall structure and a base structure is enhanced by providing a wall structure that includes a thin footer portion having a width that exceeds a width of an upper wall portion extending upward from the footer portion, and/or by providing a wall structure arranged over at least one anchoring region of a base structure. Anchoring features may include recesses and/or protrusions.

A fluidic device incorporating at least one BAW resonator structure (e.g., a biosensing device) and a fluidic passage includes one or more features that provide filtration capability. Certain embodiments include at least one group of pillars extending into the fluidic passage which are arranged between an active region of the at least one BAW resonator structure and at least one fluidic port. Individual pillars are separated from one another by inter-pillar spaces that provide redundant fluid flow paths while preventing passage of obstruction media such as particulate matter, cells, and/or bubbles. Certain embodiments provide porous material arranged in fluid communication with at least one fluidic port and configured to filter contents of fluid supplied thereto. Porous material (e.g., porous membranes) may be provided in a cover structure of a fluidic device or within a filtration cartridge.

A docking assembly serves as an interface between (1) a portable digital media storage and playback (PDMSP) device, and (2) a media reproduction system. A remote controller preferably controls the docking assembly and PDMSP device, which may receive electric charge from the assembly. Media reproduction systems may reproduce audio and video signals in user-perceptible form. Telephonic relay capability is further provided between a telephonic PDMSP playback device and a telephonic remote controller by way of a telephone rebroadcast receiver associated with the docking assembly. Methods for downloading digital media files, and for creating or modifying playlists with a remotely controllable docking assembly adapted to provide a television-compatible video output signal, are further provided.

In a concentrated solar photoelectric system, at least one controllable radiation attenuation element (e.g., an array of controllable pixels or segments) is arranged to selectively attenuate transmission of radiation to a photoelectric element (e.g., a solar panel). Liquid crystals may provide attenuation utility without necessity for mechanical actuation. Attenuation may be controlled responsive to at least one sensor to maintain each portion of the photoelectric element at or below a maximum power conversion point. Non-planar attenuators and/or lenses may be provided. One or more thermal exchange fluid channels may be in thermal communication with the thermoelectric element.

Systems and methods for concentrated solar photovoltaic power generation with controllable radiation attenuation

A multi-function docking assembly electrically coupleable with a portable digital media storage and playback device is provided. The assembly includes a body adapted to receive and retain the media device, an electrical coupling adapted to engage the media device when the same is received by the body, a transmitter for wirelessly transmitting media content to an external receiving device, an electrical circuit element to conduct power, and an authentication element. Any of various authentication methods are use to ensure and/or regulate interoperability between the media device and the docking assembly. Multiple discrete tiers of functionality of the audio player and/or portable digital media storage and playback device may be enabled or disabled based on an authentication operation.
