The present invention relates to an adjustable feeding and striking ramp which permits for adjusting an angular disposition of feed material fed to an impacting radial pathway of shearing teeth carried by a rotor. By adjusting the feeding and striking ramp to a predetermined striking position, fragmenting efficacy may be significantly enhanced while also substantially reducing fouling.

Impregnating agents are concurrently processed with bulky materials such as recycled wastes within a turbulent fragmenting zone in order to fragment and uniformity impregnate the fragmented materials with impregnating agents. Uniform distribution of the impregnating agents throughout the processed materials may be accomplished by using multiple injection lines which port into the fragmenting zone at a position so as impregnate fluidized particles. Application of the impregnating agent is maintained at a substantially uniform pressure (e.g. porting from a manifold) so as to uniformity disperse and impregnate the impregnating agents throughout the processing material. The dispersal of the impregnating agent is effectuated by concurrently suspending fragmenting and impregnating the materials within the fragmenting zone,Recycled waste materials may be effectively impregnated with a host of impregnating agents such as application of pesticides, colorants, binding agents, insecticides, herbicides, etc. by the process. The impregnating process is particularly effective for use in impregnating cellulosic materials with multiple impregnating agents or colorants furnished to the fragmenting zone from the multiple sources at controlled and monitored rates. Conventional waste recycling machines may be appropriately equipped with the impregnating accessory for use in the impregnating process.

Concurrent fragmentation and impregnation machine and processing

The present invention relates to unique waste recycling machines possessing improved efficacy in recycling bulky waste materials to a recycled waste product. The feed for the machine is equipped with a floating stripper plate which scrapes adhering waste materials from a continuous metal apron feed. The device also includes a releasable cradle assembly which supports a striking bar and a screen positioned about a rotating drum equipped with impacting teeth or blades. When a damaging obstacle enters an impacting or fragmenting zone of the machine, a shear pin which maintains the cradle assembly in a fragmenting position will shear causing the cradle assembly to become dislodged to an inoperable or non-damaging position. The machine also includes impacting teeth which are dynamically balanced and positioned upon a rotating impacting drum so as to effectuate especially effective fragmentation of waste materials to a desired particle size.

Waste recycling device

Bulky waste materials may be effectively reduced to a desirable recycling particle size by a waste recycling device equipped with a preshredding chamber and a shredding chamber. Rotors equipped with differently shaped and configured impacting heads or blades strategically positioned about the rotors within the two chambers serve to break the waste materials into progressively smaller sized particles. The preshredding rotor is typically operated at a lower rotational speed than the shredding rotor. The shredding rotor may be equipped with shredding blades which protectively retract from a working zone when exposed to excessive shearing forces. Relatively rigid waste materials such as wooden pallets may be effectively and continuously reduced in massive quantities to a recyclable size with the waste recycling device.

The invention pertains to the conversion of rotating disc type wood chippers into a multi-purpose shredding device. Such wood chippers are typically equipped with a power driven rotating disc fitted with chipping knives mounted to the disc feed side and adjacent passageways thereto leading to the opposite disc side to a secondary processing chamber for the further processing of materials therewithin. By including channeling members about the passageways which alter the aerodynamics and material flow patterns on the disc feed side, buoyant feed materials (e.g. paper, plastic, etc.) can now be effectively processed with such wood chippers. A grating member can be placed at the material discharge to control the particle size of the discharged materials. An enclosed system fitted with a cyclone and agriculture baler permits the shredded materials to be continuously converted to small bales.
