A method and system for producing a curvature of a rod of vertebral osteosynthesis material designed to support a vertebral column of a patient is provided. A production unit receives a model defining the curvature of the rod. The curvature of the rod is based on a preoperative X-ray of the vertical column and defined by a simulated correction to be applied to the lumbar segment to be treated, a deduced curved segment representing the curvature of the rod based at least in part on one or more of a lumbar lordosis or a first curvature above a repositioned apex point and the second curvature below the repositioned apex point, and a translated curved segment representative of the deduced curved segment being translated away from a mean line of the vertebral column. The production unit uses computer aided design to produce the rod.

Method of making it possible to produce and ideal curvature of a rod of vertebral osteosynthesis material designed to support a patient's vertebral column

A method and system for producing a curvature of a rod of vertebral osteosynthesis material designed to support a vertebral column of a patient is provided. A production unit receives a model defining the curvature of the rod. The curvature of the rod is based on a pre-operative X-ray of the vertical column and defined by a simulated correction to be applied to the lumbar segment to be treated, a deduced curved segment representing the curvature of the rod based at least in part on one or more of a lumbar lordosis or a first curvature above a repositioned apex point and the second curvature below the repositioned apex point, and a translated curved segment representative of the deduced curve segment being translated away from a mean line of the vertebral column. Method making it possible to produce the ideal curvature of a rod of vertebral osteosynthesis material designed to support a patient's vertebral column

In some embodiments, the systems, devices, and methods described herein are configured to produce a desired curvature of a customized spinal rod to support a vertebral column of a patient by analyzing a preoperative x-ray image of the vertebral column of the patient, determining a morphotype to which the vertebral column corresponds to, simulating a correction to be applied to the vertebral column, deducing a curved segment representing the desired curvature of the customized spinal rod based on the analyzed preoperative x-ray image of the vertebral column of the patient, and transmitting data related to the desired curvature of the customized spinal to a production system configured to physically produce the desired curvature of the customized spinal rod.

Methods, systems, and devices for designing and manufacturing a spinal rod

The method according the the invention comprises the following steps: a) taking a sagittal preoperative x-ray of the vertebral column of the patient to be treated, extending from the cervical vertebrae to the femoral heads; b) on that x-ray, identifying the pelvic parameters, the lumbar lordosis, the position of the apical lumbar vertebra, distances called SVA and SFD and a cloud of points; c) deducing, among predetermined morphotypes, the morphotype to which the treated vertebral column corresponds and deducing therefrom the desired postoperative apex point; d) positioning the different points of the cloud of points in a reference centered at the plate of S1; e) simulating the correction to be applied to the lumbar segment to be treated, by defining co-radial arcs situated below and above the desired postoperative apex point; defining two arcs concentric to the two curvatures obtained, which are tangent to each other at the apex point; f) translating these arcs away from the mean line of the vertebral column and defining a two- or three-dimensional model of the rod to be implanted, curved along the arcs.

This equipment includes at least one U-shaped clip () whose lateral branches () have sections and widths such that they may be inserted in the vertebral bodies () of two vertebrae by impaction on the intermediate branch () of the clip (), so as to rest along the cortical bones of the vertebral bodies, and whose intermediate branch () is deformable in such a way as to allow a reduction of the distance between the lateral branches (); the intermediate branch, before implantation, has a length such that one of the lateral branches () may be positioned slightly above the cortical bone forming the plate of the subjacent vertebra while the other lateral branch () may be positioned slightly below the cortical bone forming the plate of the subjacent vertebra, and has, after deformation, a length such that the two lateral branches () may be brought closer to each other.

Vertebral osteosynthesis equipment

This equipment comprises at least one anchoring assembly including two antagonistic hooks connected to each other through a rod, a first of these hooks having a body crossed by a hole for letting through the rod and being able to be connected to connection means with which the anchoring assembly may be connected to another part of the equipment; said body has an aperture laid out substantially perpendicularly to the axis of said hole, communicating with this hole, and the anchoring assembly has a tightening member which may be engaged into this aperture until it abuts against the rod engaged in the hole, and tightened in order to immobilize this rod in this hole. Said tightening member is directly connected to a part belonging to said connection means, which allows the mounting of the latter on the body of said first hook.

Vertebral arthrodesis equipment

A graft or an intervertebral piece or cage designed to be inserted between two vertebrae, and an implant in the form of a staple, having two lateral branches designed to be inserted into the plates of the respective vertebrae to be immobilized and a central branch connecting these two lateral branches to each other. At least one lateral branch has at least one mobile portion, movable between an introduction position, in which this mobile portion is located in the extension of the rest of this lateral branch, and an anchoring position, in which this mobile portion protrudes laterally in relation to the rest of the lateral branch, and the implant has movement means allowing the mobile portion to move between the introduction and anchoring positions.

Vertebral osteosynthesis material

An implant that allows immobilization of one vertebra in relation to another, having two lateral walls essentially parallel one with respect to the other and having a length, and at least one transverse wall connecting these lateral walls one to the other, at least one of these lateral walls having, on its side facing the side opposite the other lateral wall, slide prevention reliefs. The invention, the implant has, in a direction perpendicular to the length of the lateral walls, a dimension such that its two lateral walls are capable of coming into the immediate vicinity of the unci of the underlying vertebrae, the slide prevention reliefs of each of lateral wall thus being able to bear against the internal surface of the uncus of the underlying vertebra adjacent this lateral wall.

Intervertebral implant intended to allow immobilization of one vertebra in relation to another

A method for rotating a vertebra or vertebrae in a spine that is curved using a vertebral osteosynthesis device that includes polyaxial screws, linking rods, clamping parts, tightening nuts, and set screws. The method includes the steps of: implanting two series of the screws, clamping parts, and linking rods; completely tightening the tightening nuts of a first series of screws on the convex side of the spine curvature; completely tightening the set screws of a second series of screws on the concave side of the spine curvature; tightening the tightening nuts of the second series; and tightening the set screws of the first series.

Method for rotating a vertebra or vertebrae

Vertebral osteosynthesis equipment includes bony anchoring members, such as pedicular screws or hooks, at least one of which includes a proximal threaded stud for receiving a nut and a base portion for anchoring to a vertebra; linking rods, intended to be connected to these anchoring members and attached to the vertebrae by these anchoring members, parts for connecting these linking rods to the anchoring members, and extension pieces for engaging on the proximal stud(s) of the anchoring member(s) for running down connecting parts on this or these proximal stud(s) until they rest on the proximal zone(s) of the base portion(s) of the anchoring members. The proximal stud of at least one anchoring member and the extension piece intended to be used with this anchoring member include positioning elements for positioning the extension piece on the free end of the proximal stud, concentrically thereto.

Equipment includes bony anchoring members one or two linking rods, intended to be connected to the anchoring members, and parts for connecting the linking rod(s) to the anchoring members, at least one anchoring member including a proximal threaded stud and a clamping element for assembling a connecting part thereon, the connecting part including a clamping element for immobilizing the linking rod with respect thereto. The connecting part includes a rounded section for hugging a linking rod and two parallel branches having holes enabling engagement on the proximal threaded stud of the anchoring member; and the clamping elements may be engaged coaxially on the proximal threaded stud of the anchoring member, a first clamping element enabling the assembly of the connecting part on this proximal threaded stud and the second clamping element enabling to clamp both branches of this connecting part.

Equipment includes bony anchoring members, one or two linking rods, intended to be connected to these anchoring members, and parts for connecting the rod(s) to the anchoring members; at least one anchoring member includes a proximal stud articulated with respect to a base portion enabling bony anchoring; clamping elements enable assembly of the connecting part on the anchoring member.
