In one embodiment, a mobile node in a wireless network determines a physical location of the mobile node. The mobile node obtains telemetry data. The mobile node makes a comparison between the physical location of the mobile node and a location-based telemetry reporting policy. The mobile node sends, based on the comparison, the telemetry data via the wireless network.

On-location telemetry subscriptions

In one embodiment, a network device along a path in a network receives a schedule that controls when the networking device is to insert telemetry data into data traffic passing through the networking device. The networking device generates the telemetry data for insertion into the data traffic passing through the networking device. The networking device inserts, according to the schedule, the telemetry data into a particular packet of the data traffic passing through the networking device. The networking device sends the particular packet to a next hop along the path in the network.

Method and apparatus for cross-layer, in-band monitoring of tunnels by insertion of telemetry data into a packet

In one embodiment, a device sends data traffic to a gateway of a backhaul mesh network via a first wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network. The device maintains, while associated with the first wireless access point, an association with a second wireless access point of the backhaul mesh network by sending a frame to the first wireless access point that is relayed by the first wireless access point to the second wireless access point. The device makes a determination that additional data traffic should be sent to the gateway of the backhaul mesh network via the second wireless access point. The device sends, based on the determination, the additional data traffic to the gateway of the backhaul mesh network via the second wireless access point.

Maintaining multiple wireless associations via an over-the-wire relay

Presented herein are techniques for extending Target Wake Time (TWT) to provide for randomizing and changing media access control (MAC) address (RCM) signaling. According to certain embodiments, a client device operating in a wireless network determines a TWT for the client device. Next, the client device determines that it will change from using a first MAC address to a using second MAC address. Finally, the client device generates, for transmission to an access point device that serves wireless communication in the wireless network, a TWT signaling message. The TWT signaling message indicates the TWT for the client device and the second MAC address.

Extending target wake time for randomized and changing media access control address signaling

A system and a method to dynamically reprovision network devices may include a first network device configured to reprovision a second network device in accordance with a specific location of the second network device in a predefined area. The first network device may be configured to sense the second device at the specific location in the predefined area, identify reprovisioning parameters associated with the specific location, and provide the reprovisioning parameters to the second network device. In turn, the second network device may be configured to perform one or more roles associated with the specific location in the predefined area based at least in part upon information in the reprovisioning parameters.

Systems and methods to dynamically reprovision network devices in a predefined area

Techniques are provided that rotate a device address used to identify a wireless client device on a wireless network. The wireless client device and at least one network infrastructure component identify a plurality of device addresses associated with the wireless client device. In some embodiments, the plurality of device addresses are generated via a corresponding plurality of invocations of a stateful random number generator, such as a cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generator.

Seamless device address rotation

In one embodiment, a gateway to a Layer-3 network forms a first Layer-2 tunnel between the gateway and a first wireless access point (AP) that communicates wirelessly with a first mobile node of a mobile system (MS) via a first wireless connection. The gateway generates a mapping that associates an onboard device of the MS with the first AP and an identifier for the MS, based on traffic conveyed via the first Layer-2 tunnel and associated with the onboard device, the traffic comprising a header that indicates the identifier for the MS. The gateway receives, from a second AP, an indication that the MS is roaming from the first wireless connection to a second wireless connection, the indication including the identifier for the MS. The gateway updates the mapping to associate the onboard device of the MS with a second AP, based on the indication that the MS is roaming.

Wireless backhauling system using a mono-tunnel for fast-moving mobile domains

A user device connected to a wireless network maintains session persistence through a MAC address change of a user device. The user device establishes a multi-path communication session including a first subflow associated with a first MAC address for the user device. When the user device changes from the first MAC address to a second MAC address, the user device establishes a second subflow of the multi-path communication session. The second subflow is associated with the second MAC address. After establishing the second subflow associated with the second MAC address, the user device ends the first subflow associated with the first MAC address.

Application session persistence across dynamic media access control (MAC) address rotations

In one embodiment, a mobile system scans wireless channels for any upcoming access points using a dedicated monitor radio of the mobile system. The mobile system identifies a particular wireless channel in use by an upcoming access point. The mobile system notifies a second radio of the mobile system of the particular wireless channel. The mobile system performs a handoff between a current access point and the upcoming access point in part by switching the second radio of the mobile system to the particular wireless channel of the upcoming access point.

Throughput and wireless channel interference mitigation for mobile systems

A wireless client device communicates, to an access point over a secure channel, a mapping of a dynamic device address to a stable device address. By communicating the mapping, the access point is able to determine that packets received from two different device addresses originate from a common device. The access point is then able to maintain an association between the originating device and other network resources assigned or allocated to the originating device, such as IP addresses or infrastructure station address, which is used to identify the originating device to other devices outside the network in some embodiments.

Facilitating over-the-air address rotation

In one embodiment, a device identifies a path of travel of a mobile system. The device subdivides the path of travel into a plurality of zones. The device generates time-slotted channel hopping schedules for the plurality of zones, each time-slotted channel hopping schedule having an associated zone among the plurality of zones. The device causes the mobile system to communicate wirelessly with networking infrastructure located along the path of travel, in accordance with a particular one of the time-slotted channel hopping schedules while the mobile system is located in its associated zone.

In one embodiment, a device identifies a plurality of access points of a wireless network. The device also identifies a plurality of mobile nodes of a mobile system. The device establishes a first label-switched path in the wireless network that comprises a wireless link between a first mobile node in the plurality of mobile nodes and a first access point in the plurality of access points. The device establishes a second label-switched path in the wireless network that comprises a wireless link between a second mobile node of the mobile system and a second access point in the plurality of access points.

Mobility for wireless networks with multipath support

In one embodiment, a networking device receives packets of a traffic flow destined for a mobile system. The networking device sends a first flowlet of the traffic flow towards the mobile system via a first wireless access point. The networking device determines an idle time between the first flowlet and a second flowlet of the traffic flow. The networking device sends, based on the idle time, the second flowlet towards the mobile system via a second wireless access point.
