A device for measuring the mass rate of flow according to the Coriolis principle, with two measurement tubes at least in one section of which runs in a common plane, and a connector by which the two measurement tubes are connected to one another where they run in a common plane. The connector has a stiffening plate which is parallel to the common plane of the measurement tubes and which is attached to the two measurement tubes. At least one stiffening fin is provided on the stiffening plate so that the bending stiffness of the connector for bending in the common plane of the measurement tubes in which, generally, excitation vibrations of the measurement tubes also take place, is made greater than the torsional stiffness of the connector for torsional vibrations. As a result, the measurement accuracy of the Coriolis mass flow rate measurement device is improved.

A mass flowmeter employing the Coriolis principle incorporates in at least one section two measuring tubes that extend along a common plane, as well as a connecting device that connects the two measuring tubes in the section in which they extend along the common plane. The connecting device is designed and positioned in a manner whereby its flexural strength for flections in the common plane of the measuring tubes is greater than its torsional rigidity for torsional oscillations around the connecting line between the two measuring tubes. This achieves good frequency separation between the excitation oscillations generated in the common plane of the measuring tubes and the oscillations of the measuring tubes perpendicular to the former.

A Coriolis mass flowmeter that incorporates a straight Coriolis measuring tube, two straight connecting pipes, at least one oscillator stimulating the tube, a measuring sensor associated with the tube and a compensating cylinder, where the tube is positioned within the cylinder, the two end sections of the cylinder are solidly connected to the respective end sections of the tube, the tube transitions with either end section into a connecting pipe, the connecting pipes extending outside the compensating cylinder, and by means of mounting flanges provided on the external ends of the connecting pipes, the mass flowmeter can be installed in a pipeline system. Each connecting pipe meets the requirements of the formulawhere M is the mass of the cylinder, f is the natural frequency of the water-filled tube, e is the modulus of elasticity of the connecting pipes, i is the geometric moment of inertia of the connecting pipes and l is the length of the connecting pipes.

The method ensures secure retention of the metal body on the measuring tube even through very extended operation of the Coriolis mass flowmeter, in that the metal body is shrink-mounted on the measuring tube.
