The present disclosure provides knee prostheses that replicate at least a portion of the function of an individual patient's anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). An exemplary knee prosthesis includes a femoral component configured to be implanted on the distal end of the patient's femur and a tibial component configured to be implanted on the proximal end of the patient's tibia. In extension, the femoral component and the tibial component may cooperate to limit anterior movement of the tibial component relative to the femoral component. In flexion, the femoral component may be free to rotate relative to the tibial component.

Anterior cruciate ligament substituting knee implants

A constrained prosthetic knee having a modular hinge post and a rotating bearing. A cannulated hinge post is rotatably connected to the femoral component of the knee prosthesis so that a hinge post extension may be anteriorly positioned through the hinge post and into the tibial component of the knee prosthesis, after positioning of the femoral component in the femur and the tibial component in the tibia. The hinge post is preassembled to the femoral component so that such assembly is not required during the implantation procedure. A meniscal component forming the rotating bearing of the knee prosthesis is packaged together with the hinge post extension so that the appropriate hinge post extension is readily available. The meniscal component includes a mechanism for preventing lift off of the meniscal component from the tibial component, while allowing rotation of the meniscal component relative to the tibial component.

A device () used during a medical procedure to engage a cross-section of a bone is disclosed herein. The device is selectively expandable to correspond to the cross-section of the bone. Once the device is properly sized, the device is used as a sizing tool to select the proper size of an implant or as a surgical guide for preparing the bone with a surgical instrument, for example.

A mobile bearing unicondylar tibial knee prosthesis includes a tibial base plate and a tibial articular surface component. The inferior surface of the articular surface component engages the superior surface of the base plate in sliding relationship. The tibial articular surface and a stop on the tibial base plate define a tab and groove engagement between them such that the tibial articular surface component is permitted to slide anteriorly-posteriorly on the tibial base plate while movement of the tibial articular surface component superiorly away from the base plate is restricted.

Mobile bearing unicondylar tibial knee prosthesis

The present invention provides a mobile unicondylar tibial knee prosthesis for repairing a damaged knee joint.

An orthopedic knee component for implanting within a single compartment of a human knee includes, in a first embodiment a tibial tray having a superior surface having a plurality of tabs disposed along an exterior edge thereof, a bearing component having a superior surface adapted to articularly engage a femoral knee prosthesis and a circumferential groove disposed therearound with which the tabs of the tibial tray cooperatively engage such that the bearing component is movable relative to the tibial tray. In a second embodiment, an orthopedic knee component for implanting within a single compartment of a human knee includes: a tibial tray in supporting engagement with a bearing component, wherein the bearing component includes a superior surface adapted to articularly engage a femoral knee prosthesis and a pair of slots disposed along the superior surface of the bearing component, the femoral component having a pair of rails extending from the articulating surface thereof such that the rails can slidingly engage the slots, and such that the bearing component is movable relative to the tibial tray.

Mobile bearing unicompartmental knee

An easily assembled provisional orthopaedic implant having first and second components. The first component may include a stem which can be inserted into an intramedullary canal and may be a femoral component of a knee joint prosthesis. The second component has a body and a sliding retention member. The retention member can be manually engaged with a groove on the stem of the first component to lock the two components together. The second component may form of an intercondylar box and have a projecting tab engageable with a recess on the femoral component to properly orient the two components when they are placed in registry with each other.

Easily assembled provisional orthopaedic implant

An implant sterilization tray includes an integral torquing fixture for holding an implant stationary. By incorporating the fixture into the instrument tray, a large, stable base is provided for holding the implant. The user can more readily hold the implant in a stable position with the implant resting in the case and the case resting on a table.
