Disclosed herein, a power supply may be recharged with a generally used system. In various embodiments, cleaning systems may be used to affect a generator to cause the generator to charge a power supply. Such charging systems may be used without the need for separate or specialized power charging systems. A charging source or system may, therefore, also charge a power supply without requiring additional steps.

Thermo-electric generator

A surgical instrument is disclosed having an elongated body portion having a proximal end and a distal end. The body portion is formed from a plastically deformable material such that the body portion can be bent between the proximal and distal ends from a first configuration to a second bent configuration and maintains the bent configuration. A flexible circuit having at least a pair of lead wires disposed around the body portion. The pair of lead wires are configured to conform to the bent configuration of the body portion such that they do not break during bending of the body portion. A tracking device adapted to cooperate with a navigation system to track the distal end of the instrument is coupled to the flexible circuit.

A system and method for tracking a tracking device for use with a surgical navigation system is provided. The system and method can include at least one tracking device having a plurality of faces. The faces can be operable to generate a signal upon activation. Also included is a face activation module that activates a selected one of the faces upon receipt of an activation signal. The system can also include a visibility module that generates the activation signal and receives the signal from the face to generate tracking data for the tracking device, along with a face switching module that generates a face control signal to activate a different face based on the tracking data.

System and method for tracking positions of uniform marker geometries

A portable system can be provided that works with a surgical navigation system. The portable system can control a localizer to assist in the tracking of a tracking device. The portable system can be provided to be substantially carried by a single user form one location to another. Further, various digital control components can be provided to assist in miniaturization, robustness, and the like.
