An electrical connector includes a housing having walls forming a cavity that receives a mating electrical connector. The walls include a base wall, side walls, and end walls. The base wall includes contact channels. The first side wall includes a slider slot open to the cavity. The electrical connector includes contacts held in the contact channels. The electrical connector includes a slider received in the slider slot and movable in a sliding direction within the slider slot. The slider includes a slider post extending into the cavity and movable within the cavity as the slider moves in the sliding direction. The slider post is configured to be received in a guide track of the mating electrical connector to locate the mating electrical connector within the cavity of the housing.

An electrical connector system is provided and includes a connector housing including a base and a plurality of terminal cavities extending through the base. The base includes a retention shoulder within each terminal cavity. The electrical connector system includes terminals received in the corresponding terminal cavities. Each terminal includes a locking lance engaging the corresponding retention terminal to retain the terminal in the corresponding terminal cavity. Each locking lance includes a strengthening rib extending length-wise along the locking lance.

A terminal and a method for terminating a wire. The terminal incudes a wire support member having a wire securing portion and a wire contacting portion. The terminal also includes a wire positioned in the wire support member that has a contact section which is positioned in the wire contacting portion of the wire support member. The contact section of the wire makes an electrical and mechanical connection with a mating wire, a mating terminal or a mating contact surface.

A terminal position assurance member for use with an electrical connector. The terminal position assurance member includes a rigid frame member and one or more compressible seals. The rigid frame member extends from a conduct receiving surface of the terminal position assurance member to a connector mating surface of the terminal position assurance member. The one or more compressible seals cooperate with the rigid frame member to provide sealing between the rigid frame member, a housing of the electrical connector and conductors inserted into the terminal position assurance member. Any insertion force applied to the conductor receiving surface of the rigid frame member will be translated through the rigid frame member to one or more terminals of the electrical connector, allowing the one or more seals to remain compressible to provide the sealing characteristics required.
